Powder Leashes

Lost one ski last year and almost lost a few others. So does anyone use them and can anyone give me a quick and simple way to make them.

Just get some twine or some nylon and just tie from your breaks to your boot buckle. If you wanna get tech I'm pretty sure you can buy them somewhere.

...have you ever used powder leashes/cords? Do you know what they do?

Get some brightly colored thin nylon strap, three to five feet in length, and attach one end to your brake or binding. Tuck the other end into your boot or powder cuffs so if you fall the cord will detach. Some powder cords have a large button at one end of the cord that is supposed to float on top of the pow better. Or you could just buy some online for ten bucks.

Yes i do. You take a strong piece of material, ie nylon or twine, and tie it to your bindings and boot. Pretty simple, and thats basically what I already said. Did you even read what I wrote?

leashes are for gapers and fags just got to snowbird/alta on a powder day and see what im talking about.

it you lose a ski... fuck it get it in the spring/

Only dangerous if you're an absolute idiot like Pussyfoot and tie the other end to your boot.

Just crank your DIN.

I guess but I couldn’t find my ski after the season and don’t have a extra three pairs of powder boards to loose.

What would be the point of a LEASH if you are attached to it? All hard core rippers (20-50 years old) at bridger have them just straight up tied. But like you said, solve the problem and crank your din.

Even more dangerous. You risk leg injury. However, if you are skiing pow and constantly losing a ski/two, you should look into it. If you're skiing steeps, you cannot run the risk of losing a ski... because you can't stick it out. You'd be done for.

If you tie a cord, you will still release from your bindings (less risk of lower leg injury). However, if you're rag-dolling, like someone said, you might have a 7 pound knife tumbling down on you.

haha yah, tie them to your boot, that is a great idea.

then u can play dodge yours skis as u tommy down the hill trying not to get decapitated.

last year some guy fell in front of me on a pow day and lost his ski....i took that same trail bout an hour later and he was still lookin for it

ye having the brightly coloared strips sound like a better idea, ive rag dolled while touring (i had leashes on) and it was a fucking scary experence.

If you have breaks you shouldn't need a leash? The point isn't to loose your ski, and attaching it to yourslef would be the most logical decision, ive seen soo many people do it. Personally i wouldnt.

wow im pretty sure about 50% of people on this thread dont understand powder leashes

not just how they work, but why you'd want them in the first place...jeeze...

the point of the leash is that it will float on top of the snow and youll be able to see it sticking out of the snow go ahead you tie the leash to your boot i sure as f%@$ am not gonna do that

i'd get a pair....losing your skis on the first run of the day when they got 50 cm overnight is not cool....and it takes so god damn long to find them.

i had some last year and somehow i wrecked and double ejected and my ski kicked my ass (litteraly) and cut my face

This reminds me, a guy who used to work with me took his brand new MSPs to Bulgaria and lost one on a deep day. Two or three months later he got a phone call or an email from a local he'd met (I think he met the guy before he lost it, which is even more crazy), saying they had found it in the spring time. A few months later and he is now reunited.

He tells the truth, anymore on his dins would be a bad thing. Look at Tramdock.com for some I think I still have that online discount thing you can use.

The point is that the birght colored cord stays above the snow when your ski dives, so you can find your ski. You don't attach them to your boot... you don't want your skis to be spinning around like a windmill right next to you if you find yourself tumbling down a mountain. That's asking for pain.

I thin people are getting confused between the idea of a leash and a cord... people call them the same things, but you tuck them into your pants so they come off you, you don't tie them to you.

oh i see, doesnt seem like it would work very well, you'd have to get lucky for it to be on top of the snow.

naw you just gotta have them long enough. I use them.... they arent for runaway skis, they are for losing skis under the snow... when your ski sticks in the snow and you keep flying the cord is pulled out of your pantsor boots and because it is pulled out by you moving forward, it stays on top rpretty well. even then, if all else fails and your cord is under the snow, you can move your pole from side to side in the pow and it's easy to hook the cord
