Powder days and girlfriends

Well hood has gotten the best snow storm in a few years. Ive gotten out last few days to enjoy this epic powder, well now its Christmas day another 6-12inches fresh. I have the day off and no one will be on hill. Now for the dilemma, my girl is a ski racer and she sold her all mtn skis for who knows why. She wants to come with me and ride today. Basically newschoolers do I stay on the groomers and keep her happy or dip into the trees and meet at the bottom, Side note no way her skinny skis will make it off the groom. How does shredding with your ladies work out for you do they hit the trees or park? She will ride with me and film sometimes in the park when but we just have such a different mindset of how and where to ride the hill!

Thanks for any replies

Another note any females recommend a good all mtn ski for a lady that rips the runs? Been looking at armadas arvw's.

Merry Christmas!

Just do the old "oops I took the wrong run and accidentally ended up in a bunch of pow babe sorry"

and the wrong lift.. For the last two hours lol, you may be on to something!

rough, id get her some pow skis for xmas though. in this situation id just ski pow in the morning and meet up with her at like 11 am and just ski with her the rest of the day if you can swing it. pow days are sick, but skiing with friends is just as important, and skiing with and being patient with your gf is the most important

get the line pandoras. i ride with a lot of girls (former CMAC racers) that ski them every day at crystal mountain regardless of conditions. they absolutely RIP like a slalom ski, and kill it in all conditions. probably go for the 95 underfoot, the girls i ride with ski that ski every day, even in deep snow

Your first mistake: having a gf who doesn't ski powder.

Go get her some Jessie 100 for Christmas and give her your weener.

So I get that not everyone is the same but, as a girl who rides with the guys everyday this kind of bums me out you don't think she can hang. Why not rent her a pair of wider skis from Tline for the day? She might be better than you. And if she doesn't want that then let her do her thing, let her skis groomers and meet her at the bottom. Racers usually have pretty good skill sets to transfer out of the course.

If you wanna get her something of her own I have the Line Pandoras and they do the job, a lot wider than a race ski so it might be a big transition but they are pretty maneuverable. Might even sell them to you if I mount my new pow skis.

Luck of the draw family stuff till 1! I get the POW day and time to ride with her. Worked out good!

hey guys thanks for info on the Pandora, I've seen you ripping them around Emily! May definitely be interested when you mount the new sticks! We rode awhile back with crud for snow she rode some fatty praxis's and kept up well on the groomers she couldn't tell me if her skis were cambered or had rocker though I was like whaaa?? She says she's too nervous/ scared to go do tree runs but my goal is to get her all over the mtn!

I just kinda follow my boyfriend/whoever I'm with around because it really doesnt matter to me where we go. Eventually I'll get bored if we're just constantly lapping the park so I'll go off on my own for a bit at that point, but it's mellow. Never understood why some girls get super butthurt about this kind of thing - if he wants to go do a few runs that I'm not really trying to do that's fine, we can meet up in a bit. Or just dip into the trees and pop right back out at the bottom. She'll survive potentially not being able to see you for what, a whole 60 seconds. Sounds like your gf can hold her own on skis so it's not like you're just abandoning her all day on the bunny hill, right? Also I like my Line Soulmates as an all mountain ski.

Whenever I do a jib run with the bois the gf hates it and we end up meeting at the bottom and shes pissed. Thank goodness she has all mtn pow skis. Yesterday we shredded some pow together and it was amazing.

So op, Meeting her at the bottom would not be a good idea :/ rent her some pow skis or tell her to buy some for future pow days

what? dude just rent her a pair of pow sticks for the day. She's a ski racer, she can keep up

Turned into a good day, got my powder and park laps in, ran into the homies with the cam got a couple shots. Met up with my lady and lets just say I'm getting real comfortable riding switch both shoulders. Makes the groomers fun again. All in all been a killer day, my bases are dry and chunked up so she's been pulling away on the straights!

I mean it looks like you already solved your problem, but unless she has a complete lack of chill she shouldn't care if you want to go ride pow. If she's from the PNW she should understand how rare these days are. Side note idk why she wouldn't want to go ski some pow even in race skis?? Speaking from experience it isn't that bad except for you kinda have to ride backseat

Yah it worked out fine for us, took a park lap turns out she likes watching me hit park! 1 fairly off groom run then just played around on the sides while she ripped down the runs, I feel it was more her 3rd day back this season and wanted to take it easy which is totally cool with me. Ive already gotten over a couple weeks in so I decided why not spend a day enjoying the company and feelin some carves out.

Merry Xmas everyone

You must teach her how to Jib. What's gonna happen later this season when there's no pow and we need to jib but she wants to ski moguls?

It's too cold for the girls tomorrow

take her to the hill, tell her you'll meet up somewhere around 11ish, shred hard as fuck for two hours and then make hippy turns on the groomers. Adjust times as needed.

everyone is happy

So I agree with lencon definitely need to get her jibbin. I joke about it all the time like alright go hit that box you totally got this. One day that haha you're funny will turn into a how do I stay up on the box, to lets hit a rail, and here's to hopin!

Buy here some arws or vjjs and in sorry but I used to think guys and girls were give or take same skill gender didn't matter..... Until I saw the girls ski team and relized 97% off the time girls can't keep up with guys sorry thr sounds sexist I'm not

Like that but they are just all scared or skiing slower, fall more, ect they try spread Eagles on the air bag over and over and over and guys are trying dubs even if they haven't skied has long idk they are proven to have more upper body strength and to me it seems most (not all) don't have a drive to learn or progress they just seem weak and scared of skiing if you got butthurt sorry bud fuck off

Hope shes renting so you can meet her an hour after chairs open.

If its pow she will not make you wait in the rental bullshit and will just be happy to find something with you and then go in for lunch.

Dunno man being slowed down on a pow day is something that often comes with having a girl with you on a trip. If its for the entire trip or and/your only pow day its possibly not worth it.

I won't lose more than 1 just for the sake of pussy though Im almost always happy to ski slow and wait on absolutely any day there isn't fresh if the girl is hot. I lost an 18 inch day to waiting around for one on my trip to Whistler last week but it was only one of the 5 pow days I crushed so not the end of the world.

There is a whole lot of pussy around in this world though and very few deep days you'll regret the powder more than the girl first chair with noone with you to slow you down is the way to roll my best case suggestion would be to have your girl shred with your friends in the AM and you just dip super early at 630 from your hotel or condo before they can get ready and tell them you'll meet for lunch and have the morning to shred alone.

There are no friends on powder days... this applies to girlfriends as well. Do whatever you need to get to the untracked white gold

if she's a racer she shouldnt have too much of a problem skiing a lil pow, she'll get tired faster but then you can shred solo when she need to take a break/call er a day. All my racer friends shred pow pretty hard. win/win

My girlfriend always goes skiing with me no matter where I go. and by girlfriend I mean my skis.

wow. I have stooped to a new low..... or a new personal victory???

I get that this is over already.... But you can very much so ski pow on race skis. It takes more work, but it is very doable. It may take a little bit more time, but so what.

Don't blame the gear, blame the skier.

(Unless the gear actually breaks at no fault of the user... Then blame the gear)

I threw a pair of demo bindings on my old ARGs. Boom, problem solved for anyone who wants to shred pow but doesnt have the sticks/skill to keep up.

Yee! I'm a ski racer frome the East coast out West trying to adapt to the fluffy pow and it's not easy but I know all my homies out here that I shred with make it less intimidating and more epic to get in the deep snow when I am only used to shredding groomers like no tomorrow. I would try to get her out there with you and let her know it IS possible to get pow lines on racing skis if you try hard enough! Tips up!

BUT I'm on Blizzard Black Diamonds and they are awesome all mtn skis, they are light and sturdy, I can hike and shred deep pow and tree lines without heavy turns and I can also break em out in the park and get the speed and solid carves on groomers. That's my suggestion 100%! They are a good transitional ski between heavy skinny race skis and fatties.
