Pow Skis

Hey everyone, sorry if this post is in the wrong spot, just looking for some advice and insight on pow skis, I have armada halos now (176) and love them, I'll be shredding bc coast. Right now I Have my top three of Line Ep opus, Armada JJ, Salomon Rocker 2. I'm 6'1 155 pounds strong switch skier more playful then aggressive, and I will probably mount rossi fks bindings. any advice would be great, also open to other suggestions. thanks guys.

If you like the shape of the halo's....then check out the JJ's, ON3P Billy Goats, Rossignol S7's or S6's and Icelantic Keepers. They all have similar shape. All of these are a bit stiffer than halos (JJ's are probably the softest of this variety) but shoooould (in theory) ski pretty similarly to the halos. I have heard many people complain about fat skis with this shape skiing switch though.

I have some Billy Goats, I feel like sometimes they won't let go of a turn but are pretty agile and quick edge to edge. I like them.

Also, if you feel like you're pretty aggressive, I'd say avoid skis that will just flop around on you. Namely, soft mofo's like the obSETHed, EP pro of yesteryear (though this year, the Opus is stiffer and narrower..) or old hellbents. Some people love this shit though. and big stiffies are more likely to knock you into the backseat and take you for a ride. Good luck!

you might also consider on3p caylor lites and 4frnt YLE's, i highly recommended demoing several different skis if you can

if your skiing bc, your gonna want a fat ass ski (depending on your weight/height/ability etc...)

If you like the shape of the halo's, like said above, then maybe check out the new amplid lexingtons. they look soo sexy also.

I've heard that the jj can get a little floppy skiing through crud, is this true? And from what i've read the opus is supposed to be the best on piste?

at your weight you shouldn't have any issues with the JJ and crud. stellar ski.

also the 4FRNT CRJ might be right up your alley - one of the most playful skis I've ever been on.

I would go with last year's EP Pro. Most playfull ski on earth. it's the nearest feeling to floating.
it gets a lil floppy while skiing straight on piste, but as long as you begin your turns the flopping in history.
it is not a ski for park, though i took it to the park once. Rails are so easy with this ski you feel like you are doing sh*it with your park skis.
Peace up!

Thanks for the help lads, going with the ep opus 185s and mounting rossi fks 140s. Anyone have the hot tip for mounting position?

I would go 3 cm back from true center. This will give you the best edging when going forwards and backwards. Additionally, mounting slightly back from true will make the skis much better on cliffs.

no that title belongs to 07/08 EP's, which were 30-40% softer and were completely unskiable in crud

Do not deviate from the midsole mark for mounting!!!!!.....it is in the absolute perfect place on that ski. Trust me. The mark is -2 from dead center but there's a 1.5 difference between the rise in the tips compared to the tails. So you will get a center mount feel but in actual space you are -2. Therefore you still get the amazing float while maintaining that jibtackular center feel. Make sense?

Yeah mate I will for sure, I`ll be getting mine by december! I also hear that they are spot on the money with the mounting position too, what bindings do you plan on mounting?

I have the old rocker with the split tail.

They are amazing, I can only geuss the rocker 2 must be even better.

But you can't really go wrong with any of your options.
