Pow skis

Scrambles

i want to get a new pow ski, i have libtech pow nas, but they feel dead, and they are only good for backcountry charging(imo) and want a more playfull backcountry jib ski. i want it to be fun, livley and have rocker. unfortunatly my mom will only chip in a little bit if she like the graphics (shitty i know, as this eliminates k2 hellbents and moment nightrains)

i am looking at E.P. Pros, Bentchetlers, surface one life and newlife, and ON3P Caylors.

i am 6'0 and 185lbs

i searchbarred but only found Buy/sell/trade threads

thanks, Beard_Of_Moses

get volkl chopstics. i have some and they are really good in deep pow and you can butter them easy for doing trciks in the BC. they are not that expensive to compared to skis like armada JJ, and hellbents.

Well for your mom to add money for graphics, then ep's or bentchetlers.

Gotta respect Eric's art.

Plus you cant really go wrong with any of these skis.

got ep pros that im about to sell with mojos 15s in great condition. Keep your eyes open for a thread this coming week. Ive had an offer of 425 already, so let me know if you're interested.

At 6ft 185 you will probably find the EP Pros a bit soft, especially if you're gonna hit drops. New Lifes are gonna be better than One Lifes as a pure pow ski. One Life will give you a little more versatility though.

Bentchetlers, New Lifes or Caylors would probably all be good skis for you. How much is your mum chipping in? If its a decent amount you might as well pick the ones she'll chip in for cos they'll all be sick skis.

i'd go ep or bent chetler. but how tall and heavy are you? most of the bigger skiers find ep pros too soft for them. they are really soft. softer than bents i think. but i loved mine. the chetler is stiffer but i love them more than i love my ep's. and i didn't think that was possible. lol.

Ep's are aloooot softer than hellbents. I have bents and my brother has ep's and his are a considerable amount softer, I dont really consider bents SOFT but they arnt stiff. Bentchetlers are stiffer than bents though.

I wouldn't get the EP Pros. they look and seem really playful, but im thinking you dont just want a flat out powder ski. But a ski that can do everything like the Armada JJ which i have and it's so rad for all conditions especially pow. A couple of people in my crew have the Bentchetlers and they love them too.

yeah i was suprised by how my stiff my chetlers were. but i like it. my ep's are more playful for me at 115 pounds and 5'2" but heavier skiier don't like em. i like my chetlers better tho they seem more stable than the ep's.

Moment Bibby or Donner Party.
I have Donner Parties, and I absolutely love them, sooo much float. Light for their size. (They felt the same on my feet as a pair of 179 LL2's.)

this is a pow specific ski im looking for, with rocker, not reverse sidecut though as this needs to be able to make it back to the lifts from pow runs. i have eliminated e.p.s as they are too soft (i flexed them and they are crazy) all surface(one life not wide enough, new life my mom says are too boring) and chopstics as my mom thinks they are discusting.

i am able to demo bentchetlers next weekend so i will see what i think of them.

Reverse sidecut really isn't a big deal on groomers. I can make my DP's go ridiculously fast, and can still turn them well. It takes getting used to, but it's awesome once you get it down. If you want pow specific, don't rule out reverse sidecut.

caylors are supposed to be basically a lighter and stiffer hellbent...

you cant get them right away though... if that matters

stiffer than a hellbent is probably about as stiff as invaders.

other than ep pros hellbents are one of the softest skis around

No.

I have had invaders. and right now i have bents. And bents are alooot stiffer than invaders.

I really dont think bents are THAT soft. I was quite surprised when i got mine.

Are 189's stiffer than 179? because my 189's seem stiffer than the 179 i flexed at my shop a while back.

I kinda of think of the flex on hellbents stiff yet they flex a long ways. Not just a noodle, plus the mid section is stiff....er

this isnt even a contest, caylors hands down. the most stable out of the bunch, still really playful, and quite similar to bents, just better in every way

they will measure longer than listed but won't ski that long

if you're in a lot of trees then 181, but everything else go 191

i got 191's and i'm 6'1 and ski on the east in mostly trees
