Pow/All mountain ski...

Yo NS.

Looking at maybe picking up an all mountain/pow ski, need some opinions. + k for da helps.

The stats: I'm 6' 160lbs give or take, enjoy jibbing around the hill, railing groomers, park laps if the snow sucks... Current quiver: Shreditor 102 (park ski/crappy snow), Shreditor 112 (looking to replace). I'll be riding these in the AB/BC rockies, probably 20% park, 80% everything else. I have enjoyed my shred 112s, but cracked the tip, and have also been finding them kinda squirrelly when really ripping... Yah... Kinda thinking Jeffrey 114, but kinda stiff?... Would probably snag something in a spring/summer sale unless its worth waiting for something of next years line... Yah! Have at er, thanks!

I was going to recommend Bacons because you can probably find some for a smoking deal right now however they may overlap quite a bit with the shreditor 102's. Maybe take a look at volkl Ones, I havent skiied them but i have fondled them a bit in stores and stuff and they seem to have a really nice shape and flex.

Yah, I'm thinking there's gonna be too much overlap there... I have looked at the ones... Not sure; it would take some pretty damn good first hand reviews for me to seriously look at them I think...

I have Liberty Origins and absolutely love the shit out of them

Ok, thanks, but most of the skis on my list are available locally, so yah, again it wouldn't be my first choice at the moment...

Jeffrey's sound great but if you'd want a Candide 4.0 I have one new and cheap. PM me if interested.

Yah, I'm kinda leaning towards Jeffreys at this point. Still need to try some on3p... Thanks, but I'm thinking that might be a bit too much ski for what I ski aha...

4frnt Yle is something to heavily consider. I love mine and it will do everything you ask it to. Cant recommend enough! also i did a review on it so check that out. Let me know if you have any questions on it.

K, I'll definitely take a look, thanks man, will do. +k...

Been rocking the J freedom rockers and have been in love. Had the chance last week to see what they can do in powder and I was impressed. Super buttery and nimble. They charge pretty hard. And have been able to do the same if not more with them in the park. First time owning anything rockered and I don't think I'll ever go back to a cambered ski. Highly recommend JSKIS as well. Jason is killing it in the business and has some of the best customer to owner sales relationship.

Obviously I haven't skied them, but look into next year's Line Mordecai, its 114 underfoot and is using the same core as the new pollards from last year; super light ski that I think is going to be an unreal all mountain/pow jib ski. check them out in the look book for next year:http://news.lineskis.com/tag/2016-line-skis/

Yah, I was looking at the Mordecai... I'm a little hesitant based off the base/edge width/thickness; especially if I take them in the park occasionally... And they would be full price early next season... Thanks tho. +k.

I think I'm mostly between the Friend, and the Jeffrey 114s... Any input there would be appreciated.

Yo man. Like I said before yles are killer. But I got on a pair of ON3P Jeffrey 114 today at a demo. I highly recommend. They were similar to the yles in a few ways which I like. Both charge hard. ON3P were super damp and slashy. Just a really fun ski. Only thing I like a bit more about the YLES is that they are a bit softer for butters and lighter. Like I said both kill it and you'll enjoy both, but if you don't want the yle, then for sure get the Jeffry's

I'm thinking the YLE is a bit too much ski for what I ride, although they look pretty killer... That's awesome! Thanks for the first hand input... The Jeffreys were still jibby/playful? Thanks for your help. +k

rode the jeffrey 114 today, i do have to say thats my favorite ski. it rails everything, but i personally wouldnt take that nice of ski into the park. the bamboo core is super fun and superrrrr pooppppppppyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

For sure. They weren't as soft compared to the 4frnfs like I said. But still playful. Super slashy feel. The rocker is really smooth and getting up on top of it isn't too hard. The bamboo is so nice. Just lots of energy in it. They feel super damp. I highly recommend. And they could be used in the park. A little heavier with the thick sidewalls and width, but with that thickness and width you get amazing durability and great performance all around. It's not a "super soft buttery ski" but you can still get very playful with these, without being afraid to charge!

Bump because I can get Opus' for $350... Thoughts?

Any input is appreciated, karma will be distributed accordingly.

Thanks!

Hmmm, looks like you have been thinking about getting skis for over 6 months and had it narrowed down to 2 skis and then found a price you like. I say go for it. Also if that is $350 CAD then you are getting a heck of a deal.

Pretty much. I think the Jeffreys are really more what I need, but love the look/sound/price aha of the opus... Might find a way to do both. Do you think there would be too much overlap? Like have Jeff's as a daily driver, and opus' as a pow ski...?

that's a good deal on opus's, but op GO WITH DEVASTATORS

Unfortunately the devastators aren't really an option for me... Thanks tho.

Also, I think I'd go 186 Jeff, but 192 or 185 opus? I'm like 6'1" now...

darn, they're a killer ski. definitely recommend

i'd say go with the opus's then. you have a good deal on them and i've only heard great things about them. one of my friends had them and he loved them, one of the hardest skiers i've ever skied with too

Yea, its kind of a too-good-to-pass-up deal... Would you say 192, or 185?

I know it wasn't on the list but you should definitely consider the Kartels in 98 and 106 depending on how "pow specific" you want to get. What an impressive ski, they really just do everything insanely well. Any turn shape, any speed, quick initiation and a solid feeling underfoot no matter where you are in that turn. Even in chattery, icy shit conditions they absolutely slayed. Seriously a one-ski quiver like few others if any...

For your daily driver do this for sure

Thanks guys, I'll definitely take a look, but I have shreditor 102s, and new blends, so I think I'm more looking for something in the 115 ish range...

It looks like its between the 192 opus, and the 186 Jeffrey...

I would take a look at the dps spoons
http://www.dpsskis.com/en/skis/powder-big-mountain/spoon.html

they are just what you are looking for

Not jibby and seem a little too pure powder oriented for what OP described

OP, I was in the same boat as you and was debating between the opus and Jeffrey 114, went Jeffrey and goddamn they're the most solid feeling skis I've ever touched... If anything just go on3p for the build quality, they continue to impress me...

I haven't ridden opus, but Jeffrey's are killer. I'm sure you'd like them.

Thanks for all the input everyone. +k all-round.

i'd go with the 185, but i'm a couple of inches shorter than you. maybe the 192s would work better for you, the rocker will probably make them ski a bit short anyways. it's all just about your preference though

Good choice OP. To help you out with this, I've ridden the opus and it was super fun but definitely has a speed limit in chop. If you're in perfect snow all the time they'd probably be a load of fun, but for anything that's not fresh I'd choose the Jeffrey: way more stable and just blast through crud... also they're really good on hard pack.

Hey guys, sorry to bump this again, but a pair of line sfbs in 190 just popped up used in my area, almost new I think, I'm just wondering if you guys think that they would overlap too much with my blends/102s? I heard the 190 is a bit stiffer than the 184, any first hand accounts? Thanks again guys!

Yeah I think they are too close. I mean you go from a 100 to a 102 then to like a 106. If you're gonna get a ski get something big. Like 115+. If not just use what you have
