we'd need the whole world to go communist, take the money away from the rich and redistribute it btw everyone. But there would always be a power struggle and the rich wouldn't give up that easily. Humanity isn't nice enough...

You can't be rich if there isn't a poor person kicking it somewhere. If by 'eliminating poverty' you really mean 'the fair and equal distribution of resources amongst all who need them', then maybe, but think of where that path leads...

well in truth, if the world was communist, than RELATIVE poverty would be abolished, since in theory its a classless society.

in theory, however, in most modern societies it is clear that some individual or group must take a leadership role...in the case of communist russia during the cold war, that group profited, while the people were left starving...it would happen in any so-called classless society
