Post Your Worst Parks

Taking a page straight out of Thrasher's book, we want to see all of your downright atrocious terrain parks. We will take the best (read: sketchiest, deadliest looking, horrible) ones and feature them on the @newschoolersdotcom IG page.

I got alot to say about my home mountains park. Im on mobile so i say it quickly. one rail that is slideable, 3meter jump with landing that bangs your knees and it doesnt whip at all, you just fall.

I'm down to see what people come up with but don't have the heart to post anything myself.

Well maybe that donkey dick picture from gore because that's hilarious and that place is run by assholes

Yes. The crew is lazy and doesn't change it much but the features are decent. Plus it's been closed for like a month now.

Real event posters

This was photo of the day saying "Come check out our sick new wild air terrain park" or something like that. POTD on the fucking website and facebook. Killing it

"Jason and his crew of diehard freestyle enthusiasts." Jaso is a worthless hack that's probably run over every feature in that park twice. That shotgun has so many weird kinks in it I won't touch it. The guru rails they ordered fucking shake if you hit them, made of aluminum or like 1/32" steel or something.

I can't find the "Seems legit" pic of the down flat rail they had that was like 30degrees or more with a gap on. IF anyone can find that post it.

Tried to make gore legit the 2 years I worked there but it was impossible. Fucking hilarious that it hasn't gotten any better, some things have gotten worse over the last 8 or 9 years since I left.

Last year I went up there with a friend one day. They had things like a 8/10' gap onto an aframe rail where the takeoff and front of the rail were only 6 inches high. Only way to hit it was to ollie hard and disaster it. Actually everything had a big gap onto it, as if somehow that made them ride better.

Gore could have had a sick park but Jason is an incompetent douche, along with most of the management.

Keep killing it gore. Your park is epic!

Incompetence is the best way to put it. Absolute awful set ups year after year at Gore MT. Used to be my home mountain but I couldn't stand skiing features that are just down right stupid (Flat bars not straight, boxes not dug out of snow, poorly maintained features). Amazing skiing mountain but as for park... they need to give it up.

Went I went to kissing bridge, their park was pretty bad.

Beginners "park" was a few features almost completely buried in the snow. Almost nothing was even useful for an advanced skier, let alone a beginner.

The advanced park was ok, but everything was so under maintained. Tubes buried to the point of almost being unrecognized as a feature. The rainbow rail was sticking out of the ground as an urban on feature almost, and the boxes might as well be sandpaper. They had a "stair set", which was just 2 rails with stairs buried in snow.

The park wasn't that bad, but their park last year was amazing... It just peeves me to go to one place and have such a fun creative park and then see it go to shit

yeah man same here. Hell of a fun time if the trees are on. Some great terrain there, very nice layout. Can shred the top all day on the busiest day without a line. I love that. PArk will always blow.

I have some hopes of coming back to the 518 eventually if I can convince west job, park budget, enough cat time, and enough of a budget for a crew. Even though I slaved there for 3 years and the park and everyone got screwed in the end with old management, I would love to make that place epic, and really feel it could be. It has all the ingredients I want.

Talked to them this year though and they were running with no budget and 40 hours split between 3 employees.

So many kids ski there. I went late dec and they didn't have a park still, also went last spring and they only had 3 and a half rail features in no jump all side by side. I'm sure the parks were alright mid season but that place could CRUSH it. With easy access from schools, and night skiing that beats the day skiing that place could be a little park hub. If they had 3k the first year for building new features, adequate cat time, budgeted $ for staff to have 2 people on paid each day(it's a start), that place could go from meh, to one of the sickest parks in the region in one season.

Build some perfect photo shoot quality setups right down the face, get a nice beginner park with flow. Throw down 3 park areas to start, maybe add a 4th with a wood park the next season. Fuck that place could be awesome. The kids are already there and that was my biggest problem at oak, getting the kids out to justify everything. At west they're there, they're all shredding rollers together on their twins just dying for a good park.

One day I hope to get a proper shot to make that place awesome. Might send them an email mentioning my interest, where I think there park could be in 1,2,and 3 seasons out, and detailing everything I would need to pull that off.

One day.

The worst part is that there is so much wasted potential. Gore has so much fantastic skiable terrain, and so much real estate for parks that could be out of this world. The money is definitely there, they just installed a new high speed quad for gods sake...

Every year I go there hoping things will change, and every year it's such a letdown.

well if you're skiing park at snowbird you're skiing wrong.

They should just get rid of the damn thing entirely. Sketchy rails and really bad jumps. Its home for me but i honestly feel like their park will get them sued more than jerries bucking themselves off of a cliff or whatever.

Give up man. Even ted, tbatty, t3dizzle, gave up and he was the one that was always thinking gore would be sick. Finally he realized it was a train wreck and moved to utah.

Gore's management likes where there park is. They are oblivious to the rest of the park world. They like jason and will keep him around forever.

I miss the days of the gully when we just did whatever the fuck we wanted over there.

The day I quit Johara tried to fire me for raking the halfpipe on my day off because he was horrific with a pipe dragon. I just wanted people to be able to ride it when he showed up and started shit. Don't remember how it went down but he said I wasn't going to work there anymore or something and I told him to fuck off and I was done.

Nice to see that absolutely nothing has changed in the last decade there.

Sucks because gore had a pretty solid crew in the park up until the 09-10 season, then people dipped to killy and mt snow.

Starting making moves towards Snow, like you said, it's just not worth it anymore.

Yeah, it is what it is. You can still have fun there with friends but don't expect it to change, because it won't.

That said I wish they would get their shit together, I want everyone to have a good park. I would never work at that place again even if jason bounced, his job was up for grabs and there was some kind of interest in building a non shit park.

Gore is that mountain you ski until you're old enough to move or start driving somewhere else to ski park.

MORE JORE

that actually looks too shitty to learn on. If you already knew how to get square and pop/rotate on, it would be an easy lame little feature, but if you'd never hit a rail before that would be awful to learn on.

I wish I had some pics from Boyce park.

Their mountain:

Has one lift

5 slopes and 2 "terrain" parks

Has a total of 7 features.

Their largest jump is 10-15 feet

Their cafeteria is equivalent to a snack bar at a middle school swim meet

I went there once this season. They had a flat down box that was 2 inches off the ground. Then they had a flat rail which was unhittable due to the poorly built lip. Followed by an up-down box, but the up part was positioned at 90 degrees. It felt like skiing into a brick wall. Then they had the jump, which was actually somewhat OK. Then they had another flat rail, which was also satisfying. Followed by a crooked flat down flat box, and another unhittable flat rail.

Still buying a season pass there next season cause it's 15 minutes from my house, and the passes are only 45$ for an entire season. And they are open on week nights.

Don't fuck with NY mountains no mo

I went to whiteface this season and they had a nice park set up. IMO a better mountain than snow but whiteface parks are shit compared to snow.

Yeah their jumps are usually really nice up there at whiteface. I just feel like for weather, Lake Placid is so much more of a hit or miss then southern VT but thats just from my experiences.

Magic is straight atrocious. They try in the beginning, but nobody follows through and it always falls apart.

They were so close too. They even cut a new trail to run a handle tow park under the lights at night and then never just followed through with it.

So sad. Magic is such a rad place too.

Really happy I can't post in this thread. My mountain kills it's shit for how small it is.

Shout out to Peek n Peak's parks and 7 springs for sending some guys up north to make WNY's sickest parks

Table mountain, we have a 20 ft kicker with no joke no landing its completely flat one rails so rusty my buddy got tetnis by sitting on it... one rail also no joke has a 90 degree kink :/ a snowboarder tried to just gap the kink and broke his helmet, then the wallride broke when I rode it and I broke my hand

Peek n peak is really nice. I never made it out to seven springs though. I like how peek has an airbag for a lot of the season. Most places get one weekend.

I typically wouldn't hate on Hyland too hard besides the need to break out my ice skates, landing in ruts, and dodging over 30 twelve year old sn8boarders (who when not snowboarding will be sitting on your feature), but this was a serious low for them.

Wow. That's terrible. Do they now know how rainbows are supposed to work?

It seems like they've really stepped up their parks the last few years. They've always had good jumps but their rail game was pretty whack for a while. Like the battle box starting and ending in the ground. The dfd being under the takeoff so you couldn't see it, sometimes would just shifty next to it when going for a disaster.

Tyler watson and some others have been pumping out new features and building some pretty creative shit. Calling whiteface parks shit at this point seems unreasonable. I think they're starting to really geat it together.

Damn, do they have any decent features?

I teied to hit that on ski blades and I died

Double rainbow all the way across the sky. Woahhhh - that's literally why hyland put it in, at least that's what my friend on park crew told me.
