do you trust those bindings?

we got a pair of skis in the consignment shop i work at with those same bindings and all i could think is that the bindings made my knees worries

Hot tip: don't trust any binding. Your knees are gonna be fucked either way lol.

have you tried the g3 zeds?

no. i have the ions. while the heel riser tabs are nice, i cant say i use them all that much.

the TLTs you can use your pole to rotate them. i havent found a better way than to use your hand with my ions and alpinists.

just treat each set of bindings as an individual case. ive seen them in really bad shape where the heel has a bunch of play and cracks in the housing. where the toe pins, levers and springs are worn out and flop about.

the TLT have not really changed too much to the speed turns. the design has been around for like 30 years. kind of like FT.

I mean I get it. We are supposed to trust these things to keep our knees safe.. but it really comes down to case by case basis... longer skis, heavier bodies, weirder falls, locked-in toes or not...

These things are made almost entirely out of metal and I replaced the old-almost surely perfectly fine heel springs with some fresh new ones - which they still make because they're effectively the same springs you find in the speed turns. I did it simply because I could... not because I feel like they were likely to fail me or anything.

Gawd this thread is a throwback. I feel like my touring setups have come full circle multiple times since I first posted here.

This winter I think it's gonna be:

Moment DWT with modded ATK Trofeos - Do everything, all the time. Default ski and binding combo.

ON3P J118 Tour with Moment Voyager 14's - Pow and the occasional inbounds lap

Might end up with regular Moment Deathwishes + CAST as a travel ski, we'll see.

Bent 110 & Dynafit ST Rotation 12 & S/LAB MTN Boots

Pretty hyped with this setup for most of the winter but might look into something lighter/smaller for bigger spring lines/14er skiing

In the market for some new skins, if anyone has recommendations please let me know!

Moment Deathwish Tour with Voyager 16s

Paired with Tecnica Zero G Tour Pros and Pomoca Climb Pro S-Glide skins

I have 25ish days in these so far and I'm super happy with em. I'm continuously impressed with how light this setup is vs how well it skis. I've hiked a ton of miles this year with this setup A-framed on my back for TAY. Floats on summer slush and holds an edge when it's firm. Moment's durability has been great against all the rocks I've hit.

Now that it's starting to snow again, I'm excited for some actual touring again. I'm super happy with this setup for everyday conditions in Tahoe

The touring quiver for this year.

Moment commander 108 188 w/cast. Might be one of the heaviest setups out there but good for side country and travel duty.

Moment deathwish tour 190 w/ atk fr14 - picked these up lightly used this year, super hyped on them so far. Daily driver touring.

Blizzard Zero G95 185 w/ atk fr14. big day/skimo duty ski. Feel amazing on the uphill, kinda funky on the descents with how light they are.

Atomic blog 185 w/ kingpin. First touring ski I had from back in 2012 or so, noodly early season rock sticks.

How do you like the wonders? Do you have the camber or reverse camber

Honestly I love them the weight is amazing but I feel like I am not compromising for downhill performance at all. I have the cambered version cause I picked them up second hand and didn't have a choice. I was a little worried at first but I have no problem with them releasing in the turns which is what the previous owner had a problem with. If I had the choice I would probably go with the reverse just because this is my decorated touring skis and I don't really ski resort on them unless I am using the resort to get to side country.

I've now been reading the ATK website for one hour and I still don't think I know the difference between any of them. They look so damn cool tho.

Their product lineup is so convoluted its crazy, but they ski incredibly well for how light they are. IMO way more solid than the kingpins which I kept pre-releasing out of in any sort of hard snow.

ON3P Jeffery 110 Customs in a 186 with Woodsman 110 topsheet and the hybrid touring core w/ Market Duke PT 16's. I have really enjoyed my "Fisher Price Babies First Setup" and I think my next move would be to get a set of Jeffery 102's in a 186 with full touring layup (includes thinner edge). I like the idea of getting my hands on a cast setup as well as my second pair of touring bindings, I just don't think I'm mentally ready for pins yet on the descent.

These things have been incredibly fun though and even pow days at the resort are just a blast.

make the mental jump to pins you won't regret it

i was a little sussed out too but it was the best move. any insecurity i feel on my touring setup is due to my featherweight skis and not my pin bindings. obviously depends on which binding you get but many are much more burly than you would think

Blizzard zerog 108 180cm + Vipec12 - Light setup

Aramada JJ 185cm + Vipec12 - POW

Fischer ranger102 184cm + Cast - Hardpack/Resort

Head oblivion 94 184cm + Trekkers - Mainly just for park

Lange XT120 Free and Nordica patron pro130

Will try to grab a pair of Head Kore111 or Scott Pure 109Ti/115Ti for next season to fill the gap between ZeroGs and JJs. I would like a little bit more more rocker than zerogs, less surfier tail than JJs and wider than ranger102s.
