Post your NS navigating tricks

we all know that the website doesnt always work flawlessly. sometimes picture embeding is sketchy, sometimes we cant respond or quote....little things. In order to make it more bareable for everyone, I decided to share a few tips I discovered from my hours of ns browsing.

1: when you want to respnd to a thread or quote someone and the text line doesnt appear: simply open a new tab in your browser and go back to newschoolers tab, the text line should be there.

2: when you want to post a picture (with fancy embeder, I know we shouldnt use it but when the picture is nowhere else online, it is usefull) when you found the picture you want and you click on it but it doesnt work.... simply drag the picture to the text box. A small version of the image will apear, delete it and go back to the picture window to click the image... it will work.

These are the only tricks I know for now... hope it helps, if not, I hope my lameness entertained you for at least a good 10 seconds.

share some tricks that you have for when the site has little glitches. I realy want to find one for when the icon to open the image browser doesnt work. the only one I know is to use safari instead of firefox but its not quick enough.

ps. make sure to write what browser you are using for the tricks.
 
B/S/T is sometimes a bitch to see what new threads have been posted that day. as a solution Type "FS" or "WTS" or "Sale" or the Item/brand you are looking for in the searchbar. When wanted to see what people are trading "FT" or "WTT". And for when you want to see what people want to buy type "Looking For" or "WTB".

Just my 2 cents.
 
sometimes when you try to reply to a thread, it will not let you type right away. turn off the "fancy gui editor" in your account settings and there will be no waiting time.
 
If you want to see the threads you've made, go to your profile. Then click "Reviews" in your profile. After that you'll see "Threads". Those are the threads you've made.
 
to do this with a normal reply box, just copy the image address instead of the image and use normal [.img] [./img] tags
 
found the trick for when the image browser doesnt want to pop up... and simpler photo posting than using codes... find the picture you want, open new tab where you want to reply, drag and drop from the other tab into your post. that simple

when using the flash embed box for, uh, posting videos, and the button doesn't work, just hit return (enter) once in the reply box, or type some letters and hit return, and it works.
 
I was messing around with google search and figured a couple of tricks that I think you guys will like.

copy and paste this into google to see everyone who has you on their friends list. just replace "username" with your username.

username "hide_header" site:https://newschoolers.com/ns/members/profile

copy paste this into google to see everytime someone quoted one of your posts. hit ctrl + F and type in your username then hit enter until you find the post quoting yours.

"quoting username" site:newschoolers.com

it cycles through your username in the orange box at the top left, friends list if you have yourself as a friend, online list then anything else on the page. the threads don't appear in chronilogical order in google but you can go into advanced search and choose past month, past week etc.

 
ahhh the things malcolm could acheive if he put this much effort in say... work, school, normal things.

sick stuff though malcolm, I love the friends thing
 
on mobile NS, getting back to the threads page can take up to three whole clicks. to combat this keep a thread that got deleted in your threads and simple click saving you ONE whole click (or 4.8 seconds)

If you ever need to go to the home page, click the ns logo in the upper left... Although i might just be sstupid and never noticed that
 
You need to have the "hide_header" thing because that's what hides your name on the online list. Or else you'll end up with a bunch of random people who don't have you as a friend, but you were online when Google indexed the page so you show up in the search results.
 
So good. Took me so long to find this thread again. Found so many random people that had me as a friend. You have to do it a few times on different days to get more people.
 
I know, I am kinda weirded out but honored at the same time lol. the thing thats even more off, is people that I know are my friend are not on there..so there is obviously more
