RIP bank account. Bike for wife. Bike for me. And a fridge. But don't worry, they charge extra to make SMALLER "counter depth" refrigerators and my kitchen cannot physically accommodate standard size. I could have gotten a nicer, larger fridge for the same price. So stupid.

Skis showed up yesterday and just waiting on the bindings! I’ve never been more excited for a setup in my entire life!

New boots since I cracked my Lange's sledding. It was time for a new pair anyway. Went with the 110 flex b/c I don't noeed a 120 anymore and will toss on a booster strap. Opted not to downsize for once, instead kept my 23.5 Dalbellos for days I want a smaller boot.

Yes. For someone who definitely expresses a dislike for consumerist culture and its impact I still go out and buy into the marketing. It's rather hypocritical for someone writing a thesis surrounding industrial greed and environmental explotiaiton to go out and buy new items form brand names, but here I am.

Go volunteer or visit in India or Africa for a few months and it will set your head straight

Don’t even need to leave the states my dude, go to any indigenous reservations. That said, this is a thread about buying things, so here I am.

While I’m on my pedestal imma promote supporting local farmers and businesses, growing your own food, hunting and fishing for meat, (should you choose to consume it) and clothing swaps with friends. Sustainability starts in our own houses, make some small changes here and there.

That’s fair and well said. I wasn’t trying to knock ya or anything.

This plus some save batteries so I can fix my Mario Tennis cartridge, aka one of the best games ever created for gameboy color. Somehow I either lost or sold all my gameboy games but found the actual game system in my parents house. Works like a dream. Have Mario tennis, super Mario bros and now Pokémon again. Life is complete. I even found my plug in light to play the gameboy in the dark lol

Goddamn I fucking hate buying ski boots. I bought Alpine boots and custom footbeds from a bootfitter like 6 years ago in Denver, took a couple months of appointments fit in between working and school. Then I cracked them and warrantied them a year later, drove ten hours to Denver to find out that my bootfitter died and their shop hours were cut in half with the new guy. They fit amazing but I feel like I'm going to break my ankles trying to get into them some days, have had to drive home with them on because it was too cold to get them off some days.

Then I bought used telemark boots a couple of seasons ago, fumbled around trying to heat mold them myself, failed but dealt with it for the rest of a season, then the next year wasted $300 on new liners and footbeds for them from a shop that didn't know what the fuck they were doing, by the end of the season decided I wanted to get an NTN setup and impulse bought boots after trying on a few pairs in shop and carefully measuring my feet because no one fucking carries Scarpa other than REI in Bozeman. Got them online and realized I should have sized down, and also because I got the stiffer model, I cant actually swap skis with my friend who also has an NTN setup but the softer boots without a few runs of binding tension adjustment, not to mention they don't have tech toes for some reason but the other model does. On top of that the footbeds I got last year are fucking useless so I'm swapping my nice ones between boots all the time.

And now I gotta get new alpine liners soon because they are nearing the end of their life.

.rant over.

Should have come and seen me when I worked at Chalet. (minus the whole Scarpa thing) I hate buying boots, especially after fitting them for 5 years. I'm so nervous that going with my true size will fuck me over, but I also pretty much measure at the 25 line so 24.5 is already a tad snug. Worst case scenario I drop in intuitions and fill up some shell space. I need new footbeds I already swap between two pair of boots and would rather leave my nice ones in my touring boots and swap to the Dalbellos and remold a pair for my new ones so I can leave those in and not worry.

Your boot situation sounds fucked. So cold you can't get them off then driving home with them on sounds like a nightmare. Sucks even more that you can't swap between skis. For a ski town you'd think we'd have less shop overlap, I think Grizzly Outfitters deals with Scarpa down in Big Sky.

Nothing against Chalet or you, but I have complete distrust of most shops in Bozeman, may try out the new ski boot shop for some liner work though.

My alpine boots are Salomon Quest Max 130, they fit so fucking well with the molded shells, but I have heard of other people having problems getting them on and off, and when I snapped the first pair it was like a -10F day. They feel super powerful and can definitely drive a big ski but goddamn they are a bitch to get on and off.

I bought an NTN setup at the same time as my friend, and while the mechanism that attaches to the boots is the same across the different sizes and we can physically clip into each other's bindings, my stiff boot does not ski well in his preferred binding tension, and his softer boot does not work in my preferred binding tension, even though we are of similar weight and strength. Still a super cool system though, and definitely much more confidence inspiring than 75mm when coming from an alpine setup.

Too much fucking gear in my closet

TBH most shops here suck, and most of Chalet's good fitters left two years ago. I do all my own work now, though the new shop seems promising.

I broke a lot of those boots lol, went thru three pairs. The rep kept giving me some to see what happens, though I broke the 110 not the 130s. I hate getting them off.

Ah, that makes sense. Soft springs vs stiff springs nad just feeling off.

its weird and completely different for me; ive had some bad injuries to either my feet or ankles that even wearing nike trainer shoes can get sore and painful sometimes but i got fitted last fall and feel more comfortable in ski boots than streetwear. i paid out the fucking ass for my Tecnicas though.

New to the Bozeman area, unfortunately in Billings. Want to pass along the deets on the decent ski shops? Been to Uphill Pursuits a few times and cringed a little as my boyfriend was getting fit for boots :). Nothing against them they seem like nice folk.

Not this exact bike or build, but same color scheme. Stoked to have a Ti gravel bike with fender mounts for some winter/wet/gravel riding.
