Post your ideal video

This could be a terrible idea for a thread because I don't really know how to explain it well and other people might not do the same thing.

But I know sometimes I see a video that, in my mind, as close to perfect as you can get. I guess you could call it inspiration, but it's more like just the epitome of the type of video I would like to create. In other words, if I maximized my filmmaking potential in the style I would like to pursue, it would be that video. The type of video that I would be more than stoked to make one or two of in my career.

I'd be interested to know if other people feel the same way about certain videos, and if you do you should post them. They can be short films, commercials, music videos, ski videos, whatever.

Here are mine:

and of course

There's tons of different videos that I inspire to reach, but here's two of my favorites.

FRAMED-Andi Wittmann Rider profile from Felix Urbauer on Vimeo.

The Mountain from TSO Photography on Vimeo.

There's a few videos that have influence over all of my videos.

not necessarily the macro of this, but I think each clip is cut perfectly

thanks man!

i do single year reels (2009 reel, 2010 reel, etc.) so i'm currently 'working' on a 2010 reel. i have it started but haven't touched it in a while, i'll get around to actually getting it done pretty soon. and i'll probably do my 2011 reel in january or february, so these two will be coming out pretty close together.

To continue with ski edits:

and

That's what I love about it, filming and post production compliment the insane riding. Also good music choice.

fair enough. i assumed that you had been talking about the biking for some reason.

just found a new one. i love the cinematography and color grading, but even more than that i love that way that for a music video, it definitely focuses on the action instead of the music. it uses the music to compliment the action, whereas i feel like most music videos are the other way around.

Yah I was just about to post that video too haha. It is such a different feel because it tells its own story more and the music much more of a complement to the actual video. The rest of the videos I would of posted though would of been some of your video's Will and some videos that have already been posted so I will just leave it at that.

Hurricane Season - Park City from 4BI9 Media on Vimeo.

Fuck! from Evan Heath on Vimeo.

Will Start 2009 Cinematography Reel from Will Start on Vimeo.

just to name a few

Very broad topic, but I'll play.

Fist off, cars, I love cars and I love the way this edit was done, everything to the beat, the song is perfect for the footage and the camera work is well done.

Second, A great rail edit, yes snowboarding, but all my friends are snowboarders and it's where I get most of my inspiration. I see a kid with good style and I think Gang RAP, this is pretty much exactly how I want to see it.

Third, A cooking edit, and I know most of you think "BORING!" but this one changed my mind and gave me a few good ideas for a friends cooking edit, watch and learn my friends.

F-ME I can't embed....

Honestly you can get all technical and shit about videos, but its really just what brings the most stoke for me that makes the best video.

One of my favorite biking segments, George Ryan from the Aaron Chase movie "Counterparts" (from like 2002)

eh....

if you made that brogan video, would you really think to yourself, "what a good piece of filmmaking that was"?

i don't just mean videos you like guys (that's what the 'your favorite vimeo videos' thread is for). i'm talking about vids where if you made it, you would feel like you just did some fucking good filmmaking.

This one get its done for me.

This next one was probably the video that changed the way I think about cinematography

That Lederer reel was unreal. Pun intended. I'm going to be watching that next time I have sex.
