i was eagerly awaiting the chance to shoot fireworks tonight, as many of you were as well i'm assuming, so post the keepers from tonight, just a few shots you liked
this was my first time shooting fireworks, i had the benefit of an awesome location on a lake to get them so here is what i produced
all were shot on a 40D with the combo of a 10-20, a 17-50, and a 70-200 all on manual with aperture at 9.0 and on bulb shutter speed all on a very unstable tripod
what i learned was that shooting during the grand finale sucks, you get a massive white ball of explosion in the middle, the fireworks need to be spaced out decently otherwise the light blows out
oh and these would be quite important to click on

and just to throw in one i thought turned out cool

so post yours, this should be cool

The 2nd one is dope. Capturing some of the docks/town/whatever really makes you realize it's real.

agreed. that one has such a sweet reflection. i like how you got some foreground in there too on some of them. it makes the shot much more interesting. it would be cool without the fireworks but then adding fireworks in makes it way cooler

Oh and the only bad thing about your second and last shot is you bumped the iso im guessing to 1600 which created alot of noise. You shouldve figured a way to compensate but i like them

Yeah, they were pushed too far, the second shot would be so money if it didnt have the noise.

You definitely had the reflections going for you. They looked pretty good.

ISO was at 100 for all the shots, the 2nd shot was bumped using the fill light slider in lightroom because it showed up too dark, i don't like the photo up close but from far away it looks sick
i'm not seeing noise on the others, just that 2nd shot
and in terms of shutter speed these ranged from 1-30+ seconds

Yeah that might be what is causing it.

Check the bottom right on the last picture to see what we're talking about

No, I would have to have it though!! I was just using the zoom 28-135, but those were the focal lengths I was using.
BandH still carries the lens, but they are sold out as of right now, maybe they will get more in?

Nothing special about this one, just a long exposure..lots of noise, but I kinda like it.

Pales in comparison to some of these though, nice work no_steeze!

Thank you. Personally, my favorite is second to last. The first one was a fluke but came out extremely well.
