Post Whats on your Skmind

Today we pull the rafts out of storage. Ski season really is coming to an end already for me. Might get to ski bogus a couple more times and then my Banff trip and it’s probably over from there.

what is it now?

All parking is $20 on weekends and holidays unless you have 4+ people in the car. Reservations required even for pass holders. Used to just be the early riser lot, no reservations.

Hes been riding Quinn's dollo/el dente combo, I wonder if he just needs a pair of skis or is switching over

Probably switching. Those are next years skis and he was riding K2s with top sheet painted black in Jibleague

I don’t understand why they need to charge for reservations. The free parking reservation systems during Covid worked great and reduced the overall parking shit shows

I'm in the woods drinking beer and judging peoples skiing ability on Jane side, come through

The other day after my binding ripped out, I found myself drinking an IPA on the patio and I played a game. A sip for every sick landing I saw in the park, a sip for every goofy something I saw a person do, and a sip for each crash. Was kinda fun and a good way to nurse the drink as those three things didn't happen too often lol

not gonna lie the softly firm/almost corn skiing was great today.

Was looking at mogul skiing pics and wondering what pants they wear. Then spent an hour at least checking every sponsor's website. Could not find them for purchase anywhere. Didn't know mogul pants would be so exclusive but I respect it.

I don't wish injury upon anybody, but it really bothers me when people complain about snow conditions when they're anything but perfect. It's like, you're still skiing and you left early just because the fresh snow was only one inch and skied out? Bro be grateful you were healthy enough to go ski. I've never really heard this entitled stuff from people who have gotten injuries and can finally go back to skiing, tbh.

my biggest pet peave honestly. If you start the lift convo with anything along the lines of “these conditions are trash”, then I assume you suck at skiing.

Crazy thing is I'm directly peeved by roommate doing this who is good at skiing. But his energy regarding skiing has sucked lately and I am starting to really dislike skiing with him and his negative energy

feel like when we start getting to this time of year I have a hard time finding people who are still stoked to be riding a bunch. especially in the midwest as our season tapers off, I want to go chase winter but not a lot of other people willing

I always feel like sw 2s should be the easiest trick, but my body refuses to do them.

I can only look over my right shoulder so i have to do them unnatural. They are a pretty awkward trick

I'm sorry to report that I've been converted to a snowboarder on powder days. My first run today was untracked, second time I've ridden powder on a board. Probably the best powder run I've ever ridden, followed by many more unbelievable ones. I switched to skis halfway through to be able to do tricks and hit bigger drops but it still wasn't as fun

Weekly screw snowbird and everyone who “saves their days” while complaining about solitude all season.

I don't know why LCC/BCC "locals" even bother complaining anymore. Much like I70 from Denver, you all know what you're getting yourselves into whenever it snows. You can't blame the big bad resort companies when there's like almost 3 million people in the SLC valley alone all chomping at the bit to go ski on good days. Those places stopped caring about their loyal customers years ago and probably never did to begin with.

Now that Brighton and Solitude do parking reservations, BCC has been fine this year. Snowbird refuses and it's showing by the crowds that show up every storm. Alta is often empty if you can get past Snowbird, which is a big if some days. The frustrating part is knowing you having a parking spot waiting but you're stuck in stopped traffic while the 100th car tries parallel parking on the street in front of Snowbird. Might do a Brighton pass next year and avoid LCC altogether.

Weekly fuck Snowbird for Fast Tracks and Seven Summits. I've never seen it so bad. Snow was great, but lines hardly moved with constant streams of people skipping the line.

I'm giving Alta a try next year. Snowbird doesn't deserve my money anymore, but I'm not ready to give up the LCC terrain yet.

Plus the clusterfuck of Brighton's lift lines is just as annoying as Snowbird's fast passes

This year it's been mostly manageable by leaving at 9:30-10, but today was one of the worst I've seen all season. My clutch was on fire after an hour crawling up to Tanner Gulch, so I turned around to avoid a massive car repair. And I got word from a friend that Alta was empty.

it was pretty good during the COVID seasons honestly, I had zero issues finding parking. And as per usual, the days where its all booked are almost always guaranteed shitshows like holidays, spring breaks, etc.

Maybe its cuz im lazy and wanna sleep in on my days-off sometimes, but I've also had good luck with noon patrol skiing, especially at Brighton during storm cycles. People leave at 230 to beat the snake down and you can shoot up around 3 and ski some seriously fun twilite laps with plenty of turns leftover. Having Snake Creek open at night is a massive move. Bring a headlamp too.

Yeah, traffic was terrible today for no good reason. I was to the canyon by 7 this morning and it still took 45 minutes to snowbird. My friends that left an hour later spent over 2 hours crawling up the canyon

I'm looking forward to skiing Alta next year where i can avoid morning traffic and show up at noon instead.
