Post Whats on your Skmind

Has anyone had good luck removing bent brakes and bending them back to shape? What's your strategy?

The brakes on my attacks are dragging bad and i can't get them into shape while they're on the ski

Had a storm day with 0 people, had 6 hours of sleep in the last 2 days, got my hair ruined yesterday, lost my pole in a tree on my third run, searched 2 hours, gave up, skied amazing powder and i still feel like shit. I also blame the barber

I did not expect that I would like Keystone as much as I do.

I don’t make it over the divide much, I always hit tunnel build up and just go Loveland. I did love keystone the two times I went but was early szn

Yeah I mean that’s why I mostly go for Loveland. Going past the continental divide can be an absolute pain in the ass. I’ve been going to keystone a lot lately because friends have epic but the drive does suck.

When you’re touring and met with a little downhill that’s like 100 meters do you guys bother with putting your bindings back into alpine and taking skins off real quick or do you just lean back and straightline that shit

Keep the skins on for sure. I might click in my heels though

I definitely need to check it out more, I heard Indy bowl is pretty mint, hiking out doesn’t seem too bad.

Only bad thing about Loveland is how slow they seemed to open compared to others. Lift 4 and 8 just opened which seems pretty hype.

I was 0.07 points away from podiuming at my comp yesterday ? would have been nice for birthday but i am glad to have done well.

I’ve registered for 7 one and two star freeride comps so far and have not gotten into a single one

how does one ask management to get more resources for a better and SAFER park thats not dog-shit thats worse than the EC and will get some people really hurt?

yeah i heard comps out west filled up insanely fast, within minutes of going live. at least for ifsa. a lot less athletes on the east coast though, especially for regional (now two star?) comps.

Yeah our San Juan wolf creek local 1* comp filled up in 19 seconds. Went thru the wait list and looked ppl up on IG and every. Single. One. Was a CU freeski kid. Our Durango local comp is completely filled with front range kids flying from boulder. Bummer

I wouldn’t know man. I still haven’t even hit Bergman express. I’m usually skiing with my wife and she loves outback (as do I) so we tend to lap that chair and the chairs in the timber ridge area.

Dude Loveland has been painfully slow to open chairs this year. I think that’s every year though, if I think back on it. Chair 4 just opened early last year. Chair 9 is mostly windpacked crust unless you get lucky or want to hike. It’s dead last to open.

You gotta ride the ridge cat they have that dumps you over chair 8. Chair 4 and 8 can be great on a powder day but the problem is chair 8 is serviced by chair 4. Chair 4 is way windier than 8 so if 4 goes on hold, so does 8.

bergman was super underwhelming when o was there. i was most impressed with the fact that they were running snowmaking lines all the way up there. very mellow terrain. heavily wind blown. i hear that the erickson gate has good terrain but when i was there it wasnt open

Yeah my fear is that it’ll be very wind crusted

This is exactly how it was when I was competing as well. Usually the targhee stop. Our team would struggle to get a couple skiers and 1 or 2 boarders. Meanwhile CU boulder has 40 people that are conveniently able to get in.

Yeah our small Durango college had zero people get into the local san juan comp. Luckily there’s 40 CU freeski kids! (It’s a 50 person comp)

Catch me 60th on the wait list after signing up within 30 seconds

Honestly skiing is best when I’m flowing and in my own world not thinking about anything. There are a lot of great people but a lot of scumbags in the industry too. Never forget what made you love it.

why is skiing so fucking awesome and beautiful yet so heart-breaking at the same time?

I’m hyped man it’s definitely picking up now though. Much needed cycle filled up the mountain. Free ridge cats also sounds dope

yep lots of tools in the ski community. lots of great people too.

i've found that by continuing to develop my relationship with the sport (learning new skills, disciplines, new approaches, etc.) i've stayed extremely passionate about the activity and have gotten so much more out of it than i could have ever imagined as a 13 year old park rat

i’ve been tweaking tf out about 2s onto tall thin tubes/ skate rails but will do them to flat bars anyone got help???

If you have a lower handrail or a taller fat tube try a couple and then work your way up. They aren’t bad on taller features just scary and take some more patience.

i'd say you're probably mentally uncomfortable with the skinniness of a handrail style rail, so i would actually practice a bunch of other tricks on it until you're comfy with the slightly different feeling of that rail, then try the twos on again. i'm assuming your two on is pretty dialed otherwise, of course

the only time i feel normal or content is with skis on my feet. i should probably look into that. but instead i think ill just ski more
