Post Whats on your Skmind

Early season skiing in CO during the holidays has taught me that hell-bombing groomers is an absolute no go and people are going too hard for the given conditions again.

Big sky ski patrol have been like Nazis lately but I fully get it because there are limited runs open and it feeds everybody of all skill levels in one area. It pisses me off seeing park riders cutting it close and fast to other people on the mountains and being menaces. Normally I support menace behavior but not when it's people being extremely wreckless around other people and putting more of a bad name on park skiers.

Its hard not to be a semi-asshole when you see shit that can really fuck someone up. I get it. I hate fun-policing myself but I dont want anyone getting smoked by a tree.

wow i lowk did not have a great day. i was skiing with friends so that was good. but i fucked up my left wrist and right thumb trying a rail on the second run, so i skied without poles the rest of the day. and my friend got concussed on the last run, he was just skiing switch and caught an edge. :(

Thank God for helmets too or i would also have a concussion

I love eldos setups. They sometimes go too hard and make shit that's untrickable but they definitely have some of the most interesting features in CO

Their parks usually pretty decent and fun, but yeah sometimes like a quarter of the features are just unrealistic and totally unhittable. Their park crew’s on some real weird shit sometimes

Night Patrolling is becomming a favorite part of the job. I would work 10-12 hour days last winter but never really got to ski much at Woodward so being able to take actual night laps and patrol the hill is fun as fuck.

Also Night Skiing is where all the employees get shithoused and cause chaos. Don't be a fucking dick like that off the clock at your workplace yo

Fun day! Can't wait for next weekend

Cool, sure. It's set up horribly, though. The jumps are all pretty good (three of those tiny but fun jumps and one 15ish footer) although the landing on the bigger jump is flat as hell with a lot of pop, we all had hurting knees. The rails were like 1/3 pretty good, 1/3 those dumb flat, wide bars that only snowboarders like, and 1/3 features that only snowboarders can hit. It's a very snowboard park. Except for the fact it has zero flow. We have to cut hard on every feature to make it to another feature and the speed everywhere is wildly inconsistent.

Otherwise the snow was like perfect for park this time of year and it wasn't that busy at all. Eldora people have great vibes, even tho I can feel the mountain's cursed aura. I love parks full of people who are stoked regardless of the quality of features.

The park crew there is on meth but to be fair everything is usually hittable, there just isn't much room for actual tricks because the features are super difficult just to even hit sometimes

today was good. i just worked on some 3s at mrg, only skied for like 2 hours.

also i forgot to mention how good sbush's park was. there were a ton of different rails, a couple jumps, and this is half-bowl thing that some of the crazier kids were gapping over. i was really surprised with it, well built.

first day not skiing since wednesday feels weird tbh. I literally have nothing to do now esp since the gym and retursntd aren’t open

Honestly was probably Delorme if you were in summit and it was properly done

2012 was in the golden age of brecks & keystones park days. crews in and out to film all the time. so it coulda been anyone. rode the lift with adam a few times. i was renting the house that he used to live in the basement at and where tall t began. it was called the whib which stood for ‘worst house in breck’ it was perfect for throwing ski bum parties and having a backyard setup. the landlord cashed out and built a massive mansion on it.

It’s so wild that my family might be going to Revy and Bush cause it’s cheaper to go to both than to Alta/Bird and visit our cousins in SLC

Europe is probably even cheaper

It’s like 350 round trip per person for flights plus 30$ a person for train tickets to revy, and 100 a night to stay and that gets us two free lift tickets a day. Plus we’d most likely grocery’s in Calgary and then only eat out for dinner. So it wouldn’t be that bad for 4-5 days.

Bush is like 120$ a night for a condo we’d drive there and my snow sports director can get me tickets thru their ski school. plus just cooking at the condo. Prolly could go to europe but that’s one trip instead of two

I dropped my planned Tahoe trip and am aiming for Banff because I can ski twice as many days for less.

Snow in europe is melting hard and fast.

Dude I’m in verbier right now and it’s getting so much worse every day. It was pretty nice last week but now it’s like 40 degrees with the sun out every day.

If you end up in Banff hit up [tag=213153]@JC_PEI[/tag] and [tag=128434]@curt_[/tag] @Anyone else I forgot

We trained-on Boot and Helmet removal at work today to get some stuff checked-off of our L1 lists. Typically we mostly deal with rental and/or bindings below the 13-DIN range. But for anyone skiing 13's or higher and with people who ski on higher-dins, you should consider a multi-tool with flathead capabilites. I learned today that you can back down the DIN settings on the heelpiece in the event of a bad leg injury and ski removal. They used my STH16s as an example. Especially at bigger places with guys/girls skiing more hard and aggressive than the average tourist.

There’s barely enough snow for freeride here and even if there’s enough, it’s crusty as shit. The cat tracks running down to the base are legit 20% dirt

Lets pray that january and February deliver a lot

Four ons are so hard for me for whatever reason. Seshed them for like a half hour today and didn’t get one and crashed a bunch. Was close for a bit and then lost it which makes it worse. Second time this season I’ve battled and not come away with a clip. Ugh. If people got tips lmk

I also suck at 4s on my only tip is to do disaster 4s so you don’t have to actually lock the rail lol

I did them for years and the biggest issue I always had was alignment. Usually I would end up too far over one way or the other on the rail. Rarely dead on where I needed to be

Went back today and got it after another 45 minutes of falling/not committing to the spin. Spinning fast enough and throwing it properly was my issue. Felt good to get, even got a blind 2 out tho it was kinda accidental
