So ive been training incident investigations and one of the categories on our paperwork for documentation has Skier Ability categories and one of the criteria above Expert Level is "Racer" and im like what the fuck is this?

if we do an i team and someone gets hurt on our gear then the retail shop has a specific form they use to check and see if the gear functions properly. on that for they have skier type and they have 1, 2, 3, 3+ but they also have -1 ?

last year one of my kids fell a good 10-12ft off the lift and I had to draw stick figures of the kid falling off ???

Might be working from the chairlift tomorrow. Jay / all the VT mountains are lining up to get another load tonight / tomorrow. East coast is starting off building a base for once

wondering if the rain to snow will be a net positive though? maybe up in jay. let us know how it is.

spun some lil jumps today for the first time all season. felt like flaily and forced. i bet it looked like shit. i loved every fuckin second of it.

BM opened pretty much all their terrain day 1. So much deep untouched snow, it lasted 2 full days pretty much T2B. Its mostly A/T, Racers, and beginners so no one was skiing much glades or really anything I was interested in. Probably one of my favorite BM days, definitely their best opening in the last 5 years.

Think I'm backing out of my Tahoe trip. Just too disgusted with bars and the whole scene right now and I know the group I'm going with makes that a big part of their trips.

Where were you going to stay in Tahoe?

Bar scene can change a lot depending on where you are in Tahoe. But yeah, if it’s the group - maybe not for the best.

It’s just bars in general right now that give me the ick. Even the chill lodge at my local mountain is unappealing to me after a very unfun Saturday night.

Just watched November episode of real sports with Bryant Gumbel. They announced December will be last episode ever and they will revisit stories.

Guess who was the last guy they showed in the teaser?

SKI BOSS!!

It works dude. Honestly. You'd be shocked to find what stuff does hold up in court lol, it's the lack of proper documentation is what fucks people over a lot too

Oh yeah, document absolutely everything every time. The organization I work operates four adventures based across the northwest and I am proud to say my base leads in risk management memos every year because we document way more than the others who only write them for big incidents.

Building iron-clad defenses with your managers and seeing their brains about risk management and assessment is cool too. CYA is a huge part of working in resorts and most if not all medical/guiding jobs.

I will say it does fucking suck sometimes having to state objective findings and observations as an assisting patrollers or as additional comments because you don't want to throw your buddy under the bus but you also have to state the truth of what happened and what you were doing and what you saw by the exact detail....and it doubly-stings having to comment what you did when you make a fuck up.

Yeah like I'm just not surprised anymore that resort management doesn't have it figured out. It's my 10th season out-west and nothing shocks me anymore lol. Maybe because of becomming jaded from seeing shit as a patroller and EMT. It's a super small operation and we just don't have the manpower to get things open like the rest of the resorts in CO plus lack of snowfall and condusive snowmakig temps, all these moving parts, and every single time your department gets ripped by the GM for petty shit that really doesn't matter because they're stressed and are looking for issues.....Our GM has blown-up dispatch more than enough this week about problems that take away from our training and prep and its annoying.

Can concussions show symptoms 2 days after you hit your head? Can't tell if I got a cold or if I got whiplash on sunday

Symptoms can take days to show up occasionally.

Definitely. Got a concussion from faceplanting in sticky snow in May and felt fine the next day. Didn't start feeling out of it until like 36-48 hours after it happened

Yeah I hucked to flat on some dirt jumps with my bmx. I felt fine until the next day.

Always wear a mouth guard now, softens the blow to hard impacts just as well as head hits

yooo i mounted some ON3Ps recently and idk why but they were ridiculously hard to ski. i felt like they just wanted to go straight. at one point i took them off and looked at the bases and to confirm they were mounted the right direction lol. i mean am i just that used to dull edges?? i was so sketch out there lmao

I have one pair of on3ps and remember thinking they were really hard to ski at first as well. The flex came in or I learned how to ski them but they typically pay off.

What kind of on3ps? My jeffries have pretty bad edge hold on hardpack which can make them hard to turn. Or more accurately, the skis are super easy to turn but i just keep going straight

I don't think any ON3Ps are supposed to be very directional, except maybe for the Wrenegades

I gain a week of vacation time next year and canceled my ski trip plans so I’m looking at other options. Thinking Alberta in mid February could be cool. Could catch a Wings game in Calgary, see Banff, and do some skiing. Anyone have insight on where to ski and get a decent deal on tickets and hotels?

big sky tubes are a cheat code to skiing. 2 on back swap to sw unlocked, 2 on front up to regs unlocked, back 3 up to forward unlocked, and unnat back up front 4 unlocked

If you come through I can show you around Sunshine and COP. No advice other than get a super card for Sunshine it will make it slightly cheaper.

I despise dull edges. Only want them on rail skis. But try detuning contact points?

maybe even hit the edges with some gummy stone a bit to take away the bite
