Post The Difference Of Flat 5 And Rodeo 5

Im really confused coz different people say different thing. So post the difference, (as a vid if you can)

My opinion:

FLATSPIN: lets think about flat 3. its just simple trick, so now lets make it flat 5. Isn't it the same trick but instead of 360 you just do 540 at the very end?

RODEO: You set the rotation kinda same as in flatspin but you send it a little bit more as a spin than a flip. so you dont have to go as off axis as you do in flatspin.. (??)

Tell me the difference >.^

There isn't one.

The term flat 5 was used in 1999 - 2006. Rodeo 5 is used more now.

"Flat 5" is used more in the pipe.

If you wanted to get technical I guess a flat 5 would be the flattest version of a rodeo 5.

rodeo=set backwards (yes I know you can throw them sideways kind of) feet go above head

flat=set backwards feet don't go above head

Wait wait! check 0:21. In there you can see he does a perfect flatspin 360 and then after that he just rotates 180 in end so flatspin 540, eh?

flatspin = a spin that is flat. spinning like a fuckin helicopter rotor. here is a person doing a flatspin >---|-0

rodeo = backflip with spins in it. you go upside down like a crazy fucker getting bucked off a horse at a rodeo. take the stick figure above and turn it 90 degrees and hes doing a fucking rodeo.

now stop making fucking threads.

i agree with, not the second part tho. flatspin is like lying on your band rotating around, just like he said. your feet generally stay pretty level with your head/ arent supposed to go over your head. a rodeo is the same thing but you go fully inverted. just a backflip with spins is a d-spin.

now seriously, do some research next time, the answer is all over ns. and if all you found was vague/contradictory responses in those threads, its just gonna be the same deal in a thread of your own. anyway, what i said is right

Im sorry i need to get this super clear since i have been doing flat 5's instead of rodeos for 3 years. /claim.

Here he spins the rodeo/flat as very flat. atleats on 0:47. so this would be flatspin since he didnt go over his head much? then why is a pro skiier saying its a rodeo 5? Or am i just douche and blind?

A rodeo is an off axis backflip, a flatspin is, lke someone mentioned, a flat backflip. A flatspin is a backflip that is parallel with the ground, like you are lying on the floor on your side.

I'll be that guy and say the trick at :17 looked more like a bio 5 than anything else. the second one at :24 or so was a rodeo 5.

Rodeo = inverted. Your skis are at some point in your rotation higher than your head

Flat 5 = not inverted. At no point is your head closer to the ground than your skis.

Simple.

yea imo this video is an excelent example of a flat 5 despite its name. there really is a gray area when it comes to the difference, and lots of pros have their own personal style of doing them, but i think to anyone else this is a flatspin
