Had meniscus surgery today, they did a partial removal of my lateral meniscus. Know I have this aching pain in my whole leg about 6-7 hours after the surgery. I've been looking online if this is something normal, but I can't seem to find anything about an ache like this. The sharp pain caused by the sutures kind of went away when I took the Norcos they prescribed, but the achy pain isn't. Anyone know why this might be? Thanks!

describe it more. any numbness, weakness, or is it just "achy." also, just call the office tomorrow and let them know. take some norcos overnight to sleep and call it a day.

Needs more description of the pain, if it's still bugging you in a day or two call your doctor.

Definitely very weak. If I'm sitting on the couch with my leg up on the table, I can barely lift it up when its straight.

No numbess annywhere. Just an ache sort of pain that goes from my foot at times up to mid thigh.

Was that any better of an explanation, or no?

all I could think was this when I read "meniscus".

But in seriousness it could just be from the surgery but if it persists I would go back to your doctor. I wouldn't leave it more than a day or two before talking to the doctor.

Perfectly normal. I had that same surgery a couple years ago. Your knee just practically got douched, of course it's gunna feel weak. Your body is also just not allowing you to pick it up because if you do you'll flex your quad which will put a lot of stress on your knee, causing a lot of pain. Just wait it out and really try not to put any stress on your knee until your doc says it's ok. If you do it out right your knee will be close to 100% when all's said and done. If you start walking on it too early or whatever it'll be like 90% at best for the rest of your life.

So yeah, don't worry about the pain. It'll all go away within a week or two if I remember correctly.

The weakness I completely understand, just the achy feeling I was wondering about mostly.

It's gonna ache for some time, but it shouldn't be too painful. If it's really bugging you, ice it and keep following the post op sheets.
