Post Counts Deleted?

I really think that posting is over rated and i think the post counts cause people (like me today) to post significantly stupid stuff

i think that the post counts should be deleted all together...

what do you think?

^ deffanatly, i take advice from someone with 1000+ posts more seriously then someone with 10. unfortunatly people with 1000 posts can be more retarted then the noob with 6

That is completely inaccurate...there are people on this webstie taht have been on hear for years and years (for example member number 3 has less than 1000 posts and he is prolly much smarter than all of us

I think it should just be involved with trust. and posts shouldnt matter

personally i think they are just things that make people posts dumb shit like,..

"word"

"yeah"

"cool"

but then again, some people are just post whores posting retarded stuff. some people probably think that if they have the most posts, they win something ahah

keep em. contributions as meant before. and i bet people would post less often, so the forums would die. i have never seen a forum without member post counts

I love it when some newb looks at someone post count, realizes that they have like one less than them, call them a newb without noticing that they have been here for like two years longer than them. Sorry if that was kinda hard to follow. I personally don't even look at the post count. I couldn't care less about how many posts someone has.

i dont like how people just assume that if you have been on here for years and only have 100 posts that that makes you some holy shaman and everything you post is filled with truth and wisdom. when your on here long enough you know who contributes good stuff even if they only have say 1000 posts vs who post whores and has 10,000 posts. if you arents sure about someone, its not terrible to look at the post count. we all know who whores and who offers good input and we all do a little of both. keep the count

helpful, unless they find some other system, like a people rating system, it has to stay, its a sign of authority, and even though its not a completely sound system, something has to be here

definalty. when i read a post i usually check to see who wrote it first. if i don't recignize the name i look at the counter. if its high i usaully belive it and then check out the join date to see how valid the post is. but if i recignize the name i know its legit. post whores don't need counters because everyone knows there name. for example. when you see nomensteven and his cartman icon you basically know you are listening to becsaue you've seen 100+ posts from him since january. same with skiierman, sean., bishop, papasteeze. we know these people from all the posts we've seen from them. after someone has like 2000 posts we know who they are and there isn't really a need for a counter.

if possible a mod should change skiiermans post count to "does it really matter?"

I think it should be the member number displayed, post count doesnt mean anything, and most people with alot of posts just hit up the Non-Ski Gabber, but there are others like nomensteven who really post alot in ski gabber that is really useful

What the fuck is wrong with you people?

Why do you post for your count? Thats the stupidest shit I have ever read on here.

You people care about this shit way to much...it honestly scarey. I hope we can get get them deleted or removed (just show in the profiles or something for reference). The quality of these boards would go up ten fold if everyone stopped making stupid little "post count upping" posts...

Remember the old saying, "quality over quantity".

Member number 3 tho could have signed up, never posted, and never be on.

If I see someone has a higher post count, yea, they might whore it up in dead cults, and we all know who those people are. But they might actually post worthwhile stuff, that isn't just one word. And with a higher post count, you know that they spend time on this site, which means that they have hopefully learned something about skis. More posts = more time on the site = more knowledge = who I want to influence my decisions.

I dont agree with you there ben.

I know PLENTLY of retards with tons of posts on here that wouldn't be able to tell me the difference between some fujatives and a hole in the ground. On the other hand, i know a few very knowledgeable people with less then a couple hundred posts.

I look at the overall quality of what a member posts, not their join date/post count.

Even if I dont reconize the name (and for the sake of argument they have a really low post count), I take the quality of the post into consideration. if its got some substance and some sort of back up, i value that, not how frequently they post "JEA" or "man those are soooo sweeeeeeeeet". Leaves me asking "why?" all the time.

All it takes is a few more sentences to help back up and validate your opinion. Please NS, help all of us and think stuff through a little more.

oh definatly, I was just generalizing. I can name off like 10 people like right now who have more than 8000 posts who I would never, ever take advice from, cause I see everyday just how fucking stupid they are, and they haven't proven to me that they know a topsheet from a tree well.

The majority of people with more than 5000 posts at this point are utterly moronic. It's a sad truth.

Such an obvious comment to make... I hope you didn't think to yourself, "Damn I'm clever", when posting that. Because that'd be depressing.

wohoo! im expected to be stupid! no more living up to stupid standards....

maybe i ll do away with punctuation and capitalization what do you think it could lead to some interesting situations where the actual message might not get through then i'll go kill someone i love kittens like buttons

That actually turned out like most of the posts on here, only more coherent and with better spelling.

I think it would be a good idea that on the side underneath post count, to put the joining date or member number, or put that instead of the post count, and jsut put the post count in the profile.
