And someone said something about a crazy drop off a rail...are you talking about when Tanner hits that rail off of a cornice. That was the most baller thing I have ever seen.

This thread definitley prompted me to pull out my Level 1 six pack and watch Balance, Second Generation, and Strike Three last nite.

So interesting to watch the level of the skiing just literally blow-up from Second Generation to Strike Three. It's just on a totally different level in Strike Three compared to Second Generation.
 
Someone stole Area 51 from me in Italy with all my other DVD's. Anyone with a working copy of Further has Area 51 as well - its in the bonus section. That was a weird movie, the whole chase thing... but it had Skogen doing Skodeos, which were sooooo sick. Fuck, I need to find that movie now.
 
dude, fuck that, brightcove, haha. but seriosly, philou had such good style, he always had the hands down (in a time when people were acting like godzilla), and his switch backs are so dreamy. i loved him getting 2nd at xgames without a ski sponsor.
 
ya dude, I was just thinking about that. Area 51 was like one of the only movies I can remember that had an ACTUAL PLOT and little side story and was not just straight ski porn. It is funny that all these companies try to claim their movies are unique and progressive, but there seriously isn't a single ski movie that has come out in the past 3 years that isn't basically just straight ski porn. I can't say I mind though, that chase thing was kinda wack, I usually just fast forward through it, but it was unique, and that kicks ass. But yea I went on a hike today and on my way back someone had a lil Honda 3 wheeler for sale in their driveway I instantly thought of A51 and I really wanted to buy it.
 
I have a ripped copy of that on my computer that was made before my VHS broke. Its really bad quality though. I'll upload a segment of your choice.
 
I dont really know alot of pro skiers or the skiers that origanated the sport of freeskiing...i just go out and ski but i want to learn more about like the greats of the past and shit
 
I like tanner in ski movie 3 ... really not that old but thats what introduced me to freeskiing and was the first vid i ever saw ... i just found that he stood out and was super smooth,

So about the skodeo thing, I actually got the movie Chapter Three from 99/00 where they are interviewing Skogen in his seggment, talking about how he went from snowboarding to skiing, and he`s actually are pretty damn good snowboarder as well. But he`s doing skodeos there, and not to mention CR`s 1440 from Squaw Valley. But I only have it on VHS! I need to get it on DVD somehow, but don`t know how.. That was the first movie I ever bought. Good memories!

Mike Nick's part in propaganda......FUCKING SICK. Japans on everything, swtich ups. Modern rail style comes from that guy for sure. Also check out Happy Dayz.......that movie got me to use my twin tips at full tilt.

For old Tanner style you gotta go back to Level 1's early movies. There's a segment in Balance. His skiing then was ugly. Then the next year he had style out of completely nowhere.

I wish I could find a clip online of his segment in Balance.
