No disrespect, but wasn't there a big scandal in Dubai where a few girls got raped and the local officials played it down because they wanted to keep their image of a shining city intact and unblemished?
Ball's Pyramid, part of the Lord Howe Island group near Australia. Cool story about this, there was once a giant stick insect on Lord Howe Island proper, but it was thought to have gone extinct when humans introduced rats to the island. A few years ago someone found a skeleton of one on the this rock in the photo, and a team was put together to hunt for the insect on this small remote island. The insects only live in jungle, and the rock is bare, as you can see. After a few days, the team found a small bush in a protected crevice with insect droppings around it. They waited till night, when these bugs are more active, and sure enough, they found a small population barely clinging to existence. A few of the insects have been transported to zoo's, where their population is being increased to ensure they survive.
I lived in India for 4 months and this was the view from outside the back door of the house. I had to walk to the top right corner of the picture to buy smokes. I have better resolution photos of like a fortress on top of a mountain and a city painted blue and a temple at like 15,000ft and Taj mahal and shit but Facebook won't load right now, so maybe I'll post them later.
This thread is absolutely amazing. Some of those pictures are mesmerizing. I just want to go to those places and be there for a while.
This is Manning Park BC and every time I see it I just feel nice inside.
