haha, maybe someday. I'm a drummer of 15 years who wanted to learn a real instrument. So (theory) musically, I'm a good guitarist - skill wise, not so much.

that's cool, from the old style logo (martin style) on the headstock, my guess is probably late 60's to mid 70's. that's a good keep man, is it rosewood back and sides or mahogany?

Fender Fat Strat with Seymore Duncan humbucker. Mexican made, but still plays nice.

yes, i haven't been able to finish building them yet, i am lacking power tools and a place to build. the first picture, the acoustic on the left i built myself from scratch

thanks man i love it. It was actually my dad's, he bought it brand new back in '76 and handed it down to me a couple years ago and it's worth about $4,000 today because of the limited edition paint. It has such a great sound to it.

thread starter - that Yamaha is awesome. My dad has one of those (or similar, his says SG2000, not SBG), and I know they're supposed to be a Gibson SG replica, but the Yamaha version I like a lot better! It plays pretty smooth.

My guitar is a 1972 Strat. American made, original pickups, hardware, and electronics. I had it refretted because the old frets were way ground down. It plays SO nice. When I want to play it clean, there is no distortion, even the really low frequencies come through beautifully.

Norman acoustic, Squire Showmaster (second ever guitar), Fury Bandit from the 60s, it's hand built, all pieces and what not custom made in my city. Best guitar I've ever had/played.

i was actually thinking of crafting a guitar. is it hard or anything? its reletively cheaper right?

i actually went to school for guitar repair and guitar construction. if you have access to an abundance of power tools, then guitar costs would be $500 or so per guitar. my acoustic cost me about $700 to build, but i chose more exotic woods because they fit the tonal properties i was looking for. you can buy kits and build a guitar without having to cut rough wood down to appropriate sizes and thicknesses. check out www.stewmac.com for any guitar tools and such, they have everything.

ibanez rg something, after i learn to play good im buying either an sg,les paul, firebird or some kind of 7 string

i eventually plan on building and selling custom electric guitars when i can afford the necessary power tools and a place to build them, but that's a while in the future. it's definitely rewarding to take a few pieces of wood and make a beautiful sounding guitar out of it.

man, i would love to buy one. write yourself a note, when you do, id love to buy one. and why not acoustic guitars? harder to make?

well, i actually loved building my acoustic more than anything, shaping the braces that are glued onto the inside of the top and back were my favorite part. also shaping the neck and then spraying lacquer on it. there is just such a huge market out there for custom handbuilt acoustics that it would be hard to break into the market. i do have alot of friends in the music industry and 90% of my friends play guitar. so essentially if i got a line started i would have some help pushing my brand. but it's all a matter of start up cash and unfortunately i have none at this time.

well for the record, if it was a nice guitar at a fair price, i would love to buy a hand built acoustic from a fellow newschooler
