Possibly going to Sweden

Alright, so this up-coming spring semester (like.. january - may), i have an awesome opportunity to study abroad at Skovde University, in Skovde, Sweden. So obviously if i go, i'm bringing my skis, and that was my first question. how's the skiing around there? obviously its a lot better then in minnesota, but i mean, how far are the resorts (that word being lightly used...i'm not sure if Skovde is a tourist town and even has "resorts" like you would think of whistler or mammoth etc) from town?

so then i was thinking "sweet, studying abroad in sweden, get some sweet skiing in and stuff" and it hit me... the JOI is in Sweden..during the time that i am there. or at least it was this year and i assume it wont change too much. so i look up where Åre is, and i'm crushed... its pretty far away. Being that i'm going to be a student studying abroad, i wont have a vehicle of my own so i was wondering..is there a train or something that will get me from Skovde to Åre? or anyone else have any solutions / ideas? i mean....this is a huge opportunity. help a fellow newschooler out!

the SL lines run all across the country in sweden...you can go from Stockholm to Are in 8 hrs. The trains are comfortable, not horribly expensive, and get you right into Are village.

So no...its not hard to get around w/o a car at all. If anything its probably more convenient

Tough luck bro, as the Rasta above me said, this year's JOI was the 3rd and final JOI in Are, Sweden. He's looking to organize another invitational, but that might be in North America.

awww man. that sucks. but alas, i just got done talking to the study abroad department, and Sweden isn't even available for this spring semester yet. apparently, the classes i would want to take aren't available in English yet...and i don't speak Swedish.
