Possible cure for AIDS found!

wow, I realllly hope this works. only problem is it's ridiculously expensive and 20-30% fatal. So yeah...not horrible chances seeing as he had leukemia and HIV but still, for people who are suffering from HIV without AIDS yet might not need it. It's a great start though, I really am looking forward to seeing where they go with this
 
Hopefully they get this to work. Then I can go on an unprotected sex rampage and not give a fuck what happens.
 
Wow, I knew it would come one day but I didn't think it'd be from something we already had.

Now we just have to work on that damn common cold.
 
I don't know if I believe that due to the nature of how the HIV virus works...I would need a lot more proof. However, if there is something there then it's a great start!
 
Yeah man im there. I hear you only get chlamydia, ghonorrhea , herpes, and syphilus if youre ugly.
 
I know this may get me -karma, but I think AIDS is a good thing. At least in the respect that it strikes some fear into the citizens of this competely over-populated planet. AIDS made us more aware of safe sex, slowed reproduction of our species somewhat, and helped weed out some of the dumber people in our society, such as junkies. If there really is a cure for AIDS, our reproductive and drug induced celebrations will spiral devastatingly out of control once the fear of AIDS has left us.

As for the people that DO have AIDS, I feel for them, but I think this and a cure for cancer are going to kill the planet.

So the cure is...contracting leukemia and getting the treatment for that? I think i would stick to my triple cocktail for the time being.
 
theyll never create a sure for the common cold.

theres to much money is the medicine for it.

justy like how there are few doctors finding cures for cancer compared to the doctors finding treatment for when you already have it. theres no money in it.
 
I can't say anything more, to be honest, I'm also afraid of overpopulatian when we find cures for such huge diseases... I think it will cause more war, but I'm too lazy to tell you why now... Maybe tomorrow...
 
yea but as history has shown, im sure another virus of some sort, can morph and we can have something even worse than aids at any time, so for as overpopulation i feel like there will always be natural methods that are always working as "population control" . as a human society we always take care of one aspect that kills extensive amounts of human lives and find ourselves facing something new, as population increases the likeliness of an epidemic does as well, therefore more people would be more likely killed when an outbreak does occur
 
Arent bone marrow transplants extremly extremely dangerous and like alot of the time your body will regect the stuff and you like die? maybe just made that up but i thought i heard that somewhere.
 
Dude, it's not cured. It happened once and they haven't even figured out why yet, and it might even come back in that guy. A big "breakthrough" in AIDS research seems to come every year but ends up not panning out...we'll just have to wait and see. Last year they thought that had developed an AIDS vaccine, but I haven't heard anything else about it in like 10 months...

Alot of people in Acadamia don't work for the money. They are doing it for the love of research and for the prestige of exploring science.

This is just another conspiracy theory. The reason they can't find a cure for HIV or for the common cold is because they are caused by Viruses. Viruses morph constantly and can change based on the persons DNA and they also don't contain many organelles that drugs can target. People aren't finding a cure because they are "in it for the money". If Pfizer, the biggest pharmaceutical found a cure for cancer they would be ridiculously rich. We just don't have the ability to kill these viruses yet.
 
nope. except for aids babies and africans who are like " what's an aids", i agree.

cancer, with the exception from smoking cancer, is random and should keep working for a cure. same for diabetes. there are some people whom eat themself silly, and they get diabetes, but they are good people who get diabetes and cancer who do not diserve it
 
I understand that and yes if they found a cure they would be rich but its short lived, if you have a treatment for a disease its endless income
 
They would still make a ton more money if they could find a cheap cure rather than an expensive treatment. Especially for AIDS. The reason is because of all the millions with HIV that can't afford the expensive treatment, but could get help with a cheaper cure, or pay for it themselves. Even with a cure for AIDS, it would likely change since that's the nature of a virus, and they would have to alter the drug or make a new one. I doubt they would be able to eradicate it like we did to small pox, especially because how the HIV virus works.
 
just because there is a cure for it doesnt mean all the fear leaves us. think of all the other things that have cures. would you still want to get those?

really though, thats awesome, it would be great if it was actually the cure. but when you think of how ridiculously overpopluated africa and other suffering regions would become...
 
to Some of you that are saying your welcome africa i think you are assholes. Yes its not a secret that they have the majority of the aids population, but they cant control it like we do. They are trying to feed themselves, let alone practice safe sex. THey dont even have the education either. I've been there a few times, and once you do, you will realize that they are truly the forgotten continent, and its quite sad
 
But it's not so much the fear that is the problem, but the attitude that comes with having the cure. The "oh, we're not gonna try as hard because if we do get it, we can always fix it."

That's what makes cancer and herpes so special. We tread softly around them and and always steer clear of them when we can. It won't be that way when we have a cure for them.
