Um, its the unpopular wars that need drafts, doofuses. If the war was popular, there would be enough volunteers. I'm not saying there is for sure going to be a draft, but the fact that its an unpopular war, other countries are pulling their staff and the US military is showing obvious signs of stress (extended deployments), while at the same time Bush vows to 'stay the course', raises the very real prospect of a draft. Just so you know, drafts are never popular. The governmnet doesn't introduce a draft to raise popularity and protests are expected, so there is this little thing called 'martial law' used in wartime that gives police extraordinary power, especially since the Patriot Act, to track down and punish protesters/draft dodgers. And thanks to all the state-of-the-art border security measures, good luck running to Canada. Or anywhere for that matter. But hey, look on the bright side, casualty numbers look like they'll break 100 this month - you could soon be one of them! Am I ever glad Canada stayed outta this one...
