Posers and Armada?

Since noone really reacted to my post in that other thread, I'm making an entire new one. If a guy who has just learned to rail boxes and doing 180's is wearing XL Oakley Puffys and an XL anorak, he probably would be called a poser. If this same guy didnt wear anything out of the ordinary, but was skiing on armadas, would this be posing as well? Some would say so, but I don't know. If this is the general feeling, then that's bad for the company. What do you think?

Yeah, I'm a probably a poser. It doesn't matter, wear and ski what you want.

This is an interesting point. I personally think people with armadas who can't shred well may be seen as poserish because Armada is known to house some of the best skiers around. Although, I would commemerate people with Armadas for pushing the sport, instead of denouncing them. A lot of begginers get twintips because they know thats what there getting into like full throttle, and may not be that good. But kids who buy like chronics and hit a box maybe once every time they go skiing and straight air the small jumps, thats just rediculous.

'Its pretty sad when your penis is longer than the amount of air these little kids are bragging about.'

I dont think we need to worry about this. We should concern ourselves with the kids that race with 1080's. They're the ones that really scare me.

I ski at the crappiest hill ever...

Haha man good call.

And no, even if the kid whore Oakley clothes and Armadas and stuff, and wasn't that great, hes not really a poser. It just is annoying to see sometimes, I mean it's just skis and clothes man. If the kid says "I'm so good at skiing I throw 270 on 630 out lbaha cork 9's abhal blah blah" then yes that is more of a case for posing.

But, every sport has its posers. Every sport. I saw be concerned with yourself and the people you ski with, not everyone else around you. It's no big deal.

I hit 5k, Wow

Stay Classy Newschoolers

Well, I wasn't referring to myself as that guy, but I'm thinking of buying skis from a "core" company, to better support the industry and because people have been saying great things about, for example, Armada and Line. You guys have interesting opinions, positive to me... Keep em coming!

do you guys think if i got the buckshot jacket and sector pants thiugh i have only skied on twins about 5 times (though i can already throw swicth 3's of 20 foot booters) i would be considered a poser? one more thing is that i charge really hard but im not that good

Who cares if kids by Chronics and only hit a box once in awhile. I just don't understand why it matters to anyone. Its good that more people are buying twins it drives the industry and makes every generation of freestyle skis better. A lot of skiers are so concerned about having the right gear/image so its only natural that young ones have to look the part.

dumb thread, personally i would rather see someone on armadas who is wearing all oakley who sucked then a cocky ass bitch who thinks he is the best because he can cork 5

I'm positively surprised by your responses!

If they're pushing themselves to get better at the sport, I wouldn't call them a poser. If their sitting around in all their nice clothes and talking themselves up, then yes they'd be a poser.

its one thing if all their doing is straight airs every time but if they're trying shit then it be a little hypicritical to say they're posers because everyone starts somewhere

Like the other dude said, as long as you're out there trying to progress and being creative it doesn't matter what you wear or ski. But if you buy the clothes and skis just so you can "fit in" or get the status of a newschooler when you're actually not hitting jumps or rails, then you're definitely a poser. And if you claim tricks you've never done, done one time, or have done sloppy, you're probably a poser too.

I dont know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

whooooo gives a fuck? as long as they're supporting the industry and giving money so we get cooler things, i could care less if they can parallel turn.

yeah, well i'm not that great a skier either, and i'd like to get a pair of armada's, that's one of the skis you guys on newschoolers recommended to me, so who gives a shit what anyone else says anyways. i guess it is kinda poser-ish to have the best gear and have the look when you suck, but whatever. i guess moreso for the kids who's parents buy them everything. that's pretty sad.

stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

keep it real.

since when do you have to be amazing to ride armadas? THe first skis I ever bought were AR5s and i could bearly slide boxes, but kids gave me props for the skis instead of hating, and encouraged me to get better

posers are the kids who have all the dope gear but just take laps through the park, pertending the flat down-flat everyone is sessioning is not worth their time, because they are too scared to try it. As long as you try stuff, it doesnt matter what you wear or what skis you have

i say....as long as the dude is pushing to get better, then its not posing. but if he buys the stuff just for the looks, then he is a poser.

Jeepers Creepers, where'd you get the neat sneakers?!?!

hehehe giggle giggle giggle

I think the single qualification for buying a pair of nice skis is if you have a passion for skiing, thats all.

Oh but everybody thinks

That everybody knows

About everybody else

superficial morons. if a kid is fun to be around, but that has all the gear and isn't that good, do you not ski with him anymore?

everyone is aloud to wear what they want, and they are supporting the industry. you are a poser if you make threads like this one. haha jk

I cant make cool linkies to Handrails cult anymore : (

its all about how they act, it was my first year skiing armada's and i progressed a lot. it also made me feel pretty damn good when the 2nd day i was out there i got on our quad with another kid with the new AR5's and he told me how he rode 1080's before and thought they were way thin and crappy, and that i made the right choice in getting the AR5. he didnt care that i was just starting and still had oakley shit. anyway, i dont really care about this thread lol, but I would rather see a sucky kid thats progressing wearing good stuff than some kid that like goes off on how good he is when he can only 180 and skis groomers all day.

-kulpy-

vincepru-"i jibbed a car in a parking lot yester day and the bumper fell off, then i ran."

who cares if they are good.. bad.. try.. or just sit around...

unless they are claiming shit.. then it really does not matter.

let people wear what they want.. just cause someone isnt good does not mean they are a lame person.. if they have a good sense of fashion but suck at skiing... so be it.. alot of times its the other way around.

and yes.. anybody that supports the industry is good

i posted about this a while back... some kid w/ gold chronics, reactors and all this oakley gear... could do a safety. Everyone flipped shit and told me i was a fag

skateboarding- element, everyone poses it cause everywere sells it localy

name me 5 stores withing 50 miles of u that sells armada, the product is cut off from most people and it costs a buch

buy core

I'm sure all of Atlantaski's best tricks are done on the chairlift

if you have good gear and you suck, but you accept that youre crap and youre humble, youre not a poser, right?

the traditionalist in me says the biggest posers are the people who act all hardcore, ride the park but cant ski parallel. snoboarders call this "leafing with intent" (doing falling leaf up to a jump), maybe we should make "plowing with intent" a crime.

if I ever see Shane McConkey, I'm going to point at his skis and go 'Dude, they look like waterskis!' just to keep the trend going.

the clothes dont help you progress.... but having the right equipment does. you've got to have the right tools for the trade.

however, many would argue looser fitting clothes are less restrictive and therefore also help

I'm 20, been skiing 18 years. I ski on Armada's, where baggy clothes and can ski better then you, does that make me a poser?

If so please come and prove me wrong.

^ur 20....u poser

Jeepers Creepers, where'd you get the neat sneakers?!?!

hehehe giggle giggle giggle

i think that armadas are actually good skis for beginners and experts alike. they are soft and forgiving, so a beginner would not have a hard time skiing them. i do think that you could argue the image point though. its a tough call.

a good friend is the guy who bails you out of jail...
a best friend is the guy on your right saying, 'damn that was fun'

if they jenuinly love skiing there isnt anything wrong with it, what does piss me of is when a kid's rich parents buy them all new realy good gear for the first time they ever go skiing, so you'v gotthese spoiled rich kids with exelent gear who cant even stand up on flat ground when iv been saving since last season so i can actualy use my new ski's

if they are trying, they arent a poser. the cocky ones piss me off, though

"now look at that! you got blueberry syrup on my safari jacket!"-Gyain, from the ladykillers

haha the funny thing is that the fujatives would b a pretty good ski 4 a person like her because they r so soft and forgiving haha
