Am I a poser, and if i am is that a bad thing? Cause im into ski culture and shit, bought myself some fancy pants full tilts and lines and also do not shut the fuck up about enjoying skiing. I am still inconsitent on rails cant spin more than a 3 and always end up knucklling bigger jumps.

Nah man if you got a passion for the sport and are legit havin fun then no way ur a poser. Hike the rails and set goals, and try and find some homies cuz they make park 10x more fun

As long as you're not making fun of others and acting like you're the shit you should be fine. Nothing wrong with wanting a nice setup and talking about skiing alot, although some people might think you're annoying for it lol

as long as your trying and having fun man. Sometimes people just get jealous of more fortunate people myself included.

If you huck your meat and are a decent human you are not a poser.

Sounds like you're primed to have a gat danged good time.

I feel like being a poser is more of a skater thing because on average skaters like being unique and over the years many core skate brands like thrasher and supreme blew up hard so now you have all these kids wearing “skate shit” when they don’t skate and its just kinda lame for the community. Also the fact that skating is super fuckin hard so you get all these kids that skated for a month and gave up that try to justify how they “used to skate so its okay” which is also kinda lame.

If someone sucks at skiing or is just a beginner they arent a poser for having nice gear. If you walked in the mall with ur ski boots on and tall t and didn’t ride that would be a poser hahaha

As a true poser for years now, you will have a lot of work to do to catch up! ;-)

Keep up the good work!

you're not a poser, and you're going to basically stop hearing that word any year now. no one cares about that stuff who you ever need to worry about

I feel this way sometimes with my setup even though I know some tricks but you realize true park riders don’t care. I make homies everywhere

If you rock ski gear, shred somewhat regularly, follow along with events/edits/ the industry or can generally hold a conversation about park skiing, I dont consider you a poser regardless of your skill level.

The finance bro wearing a North Face future light jacket at a bar in downtown Boston who has never gone skiing in his life however, will get called a poser. (Which for some reason he did NOT appreciate.)

No. Skiing isn't mainstream cool so it is kind of hard to be a poser. Posing is what you seen on the 'gram when people DRIVE up mountains, hike for 1 mile, and then POSE for a bunch of half naked pics.

Coming from a skate/surf background I’ve always thought a poser is more of a social thing than what you’re wearing or what your gear is. But I’m also newer to skiing.

If you act like a hotshot or brag but can’t throw down, then you’re a poser.

If you’re stoked on the sport and actually have a passion for it then wear whatever the hell you want and buy whatever gear you think is dope.

There’s influential people that pull everyone to each sport. With skating I loved watching Dylan Rieder and Jason Dill growing up, they made wife beaters and tucked in shirts/Highwaters look sick, so hell I wanted to look fly too and buy their decks.

With surfing people like Dane Reynolds are so gnarly it just makes you wanna ride his Channel island models.

I got into skiing because I saw xgames knuckle huck and thought Henrick looked so damn fly.

I can only 270 do some down rails and some small spins on jumps, but I’m trying and I’m loving it. But you best believe I’m wearing some massive damn balloon pants and bought full tilts. I swear if you feel dope in your gear no matter the sport, it makes you perform better by giving you more confidence. Chad Muska talks about that a lot.

nah man, its cool to be stoked on it, and if you have the money to get full tilts and nice gear thats dope as hell, and keep progressing and doing what makes you happy.

Id say you're a poser if lets say you just started skiing, saw one street segment then went out and got Vishnus and fancy shit and started talking big and pretending to know shit about ski culture

The OG court of skiing rules that there are no skiing posers, it’s not considered cool enough among civilians to pose for. Carry on.

yo i feel the same way bc i got into skiing big time this summer and i mowed lawns and shit and bought brand new edollos and all new gear which happened to be mostly armada bc i had a pair of arv 84s before so i liked them plus it was cheap so i feel like a henrik super fan sometimes and i’m just now learning front 2s so i’m not great. based on the answers u got i’m gonna go with i must not be a poser either... phew

You are definitely not a poser. More like a ski OG.

You’re 100% not a poser. Just much more intimidating lol. In all seriousness as long as your having fun it doesn’t matter. And I think learning on a nice setup is far easier and more enjoyable.

No, you are no poser. You are out having fun, have good equipment and can also back up what you are talking about. A poser IMO is the person that goes spends $30k on a Harley, buys all HD clothing and only rides the bike a few times a year but claims they are hard core. Hmmm, sounds like about 80%(or more) of Harley owners.

Also. Dude you can spin a 3. Do you know how many people who "go skiing" and "talk about skiing" can spin a 3? Like approaching 0% of the people. Most people on the front range have as much gear as you (or wayyyy more), talk about skiing a lot, and I guarantee you cannot even fathom how its possible to 180. Most people honestly cannot even carve a single proper turn on a perfectly groomer slope. Just because social media makes dubs routine does not mean skiing is easy. You got this.

You do you and fuck everyone else!

Remember, opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and some smell more than others!

I had a kid come up to me opening day this year with all new gear and challenge me to a game of ski because apparently I called him "bad at skiing" last year.

All I told him last year was that I didn't believe he could front swap when he didn't even know how to front 2.

Anyways he continued to talk down to me and said he went to camp at windells all summer and learned to 4 pretzel 4... (I didn't even think windells had camp with covid). I will say he did improve over the summer but holy crap how insecure do you have to be to lie about tricks you can do. At least make it realistic and say you learned to kfed or do a front 4.
