Portlandia

me. i kinda like it, but i kinda wish it was made by someone who's actually from portland. or is it? i know that fred likes portland, but i feel like they don't quite capture the essence of portland, like an outsider trying to make sense of the culture. also, not enough hipster facial hair.
 
the chick is from portland... and its just ripping on the parts that we all rip on anyways.. portland still fucking rules
 
hilarious show, i loved the part in the restaurant scene where he's talking about driving slow being afraid to use the gas pedal. so fucking true.
also loved the hide and seek game in the library, the underground sports scene in portland is retarded.
 
this show is super funny, but it sucks that they have to portray all of portland as the trendy SE hawthorne district.... everywhere else is nothing like that haha.
Hopefully it keeps people away ;)
 
this show is really funny and pretty true but doesnt get all of portland i agree with the outside persopective coment, il watch second season
 
are you guys kidding? This is literally the most disappointing show I have seen in my life. Bar. None.

The initial song about the 90's in Portland had SO much promise.

Besides that, maybe a few lines have been funny. The rest has been utter garbage that has could be any fucking place with stupid douchebags.

There is SO much they could have made fun of about Portland and made it amazing! But instead they had some writers who had obviously never set foot in this city and produced a bunch of garbage that I could literally beat if I ate a bunch of taco bell and spewed it out of my ass onto a bunch of pieces of paper.

Worst. Show. Ever.

They could have made it amazing. They even came close with some of the skit ideas, but then they fucking blow it like I've never seen anyone blow it. I am 1,000,000x more entertained watching charlie sheen talk about bi-winning then I will ever be by that garbage that those fucking idiots called Portlandia.
 
I can agree with much of this statement. The first one was good, the bike skit was good, otherwise, much has been lacking. They take everything 5 steps too far, crossing the line from funny spontaneousness to awkward bad awkwardness.
Hopefully season 2 is better.
 
It's a pretty silly show... but Scott's right... it doesnt really rip on Portland the right way..
Although, I do like that they had Caldera beer in the hide&seek skit.
 
i guess thats why i find it soo funny... its soo wrong.. alot of it is tim and eric" esk... like the jap coffee girls.... who knows.. its just a bunch of LA writers laughing at portland.. and portland is still like.. dude.. we are better then you LA.. deal with it.. i dont care.. i find it funny when people get pissed at it.. thats where the show is so funny IMO. i hope they use some ideas i have

1.. if your not from portland your not a native.. and you are diffearnt no matter what.. like a locals only thing...

2.. blazer fans VS timber fans.... the hate that has been brewing. and winterhawks keeping it real al long.

3. how portland KNOWS we have the best beer. and the nicest bums..

4. how every person looks at mt. hood. and thinks of it as there own mtn. could be funny. idunno

5.transvestites.

6. strip clubs and head shops..

..just some ideas..... in the end.. it could be a lot better if i was on the writing staff.
