Portland Maine, Area Urban

Okay guys, the seasons pretty much over but I'm already looking forward to next season, and I want to have my first urban sesh next season. I say we compile a list of rails, and bombdrops in the Portland, Cape, South Portland area! Here's what I know of, post what I don't have! Let's make this big.

-Bug Light Rail (obviously, mellow too, and out of the way so this'll be what I hit if I hit any urban next season.)

-Richettas Kink (go to Richettas Pizza in SOPO, you'll see this beauty. Looks gnar though.

-Deering High Handrails (its more of a skate spot but its a 9 set followed by an 11 set and the handrails are kinda short but right in a row so yeah.)

-Deering Oaks Park (there's a shit ton of rails in the park.)

-Portland Expo Down Rail (in the parking lot for seadogs, somewhat sketchy would need a waxing and the landing is like right next to a building.)

-Lobster Shack in Cape Elizabeth Down Rail (looks ill, never seen anyone hit it, never heard of anyone hitting it but it would def be sweet and mellow, theres also like a little bombdrop right next to the rail.)

-Fort Williams/Portland Headlight Bomb Drop (one of my snowboarder friends, has a pic of this. There's like a monument with like steps up, its like a 10 foot drop with def sufficient speed, plus like a 2 foot gap over rail.)

-Flat Rail off Highway in Portland (I don't know what park its in but stay on the highway right after going through deering oaks, like after a 1 minute ride, theres this ill 30ft flat rail in some park. Don't know if anyone's hit it.)

Additions? I know there's way more bombdrops and rails? Anyone with some more ideas?

Lobster shack rail has been hit, talk to natet and julianmcginn about that
also that road around back bay that goes to payson park from hannafords filled with down rails, and like half of them are possibly hit-able

Bug Light Park in South Portland.

Shea Flynn, and Dan Marion have hit it. Along with Liam Downey.

Oh and, Dumont hit the long flat rail in deering oaks.

word yeah i know what your talking about now, thanks. i seem to remember a video of a kid hitting that deering oaks rail but i can't find it

scarborough high school has a nice rail for learning urban. and south portland high school has a bigger rail with a donkey dick.

and i have hit that flat rail next to 295. it has a perfect drop in because of the hill in front of it.

yeah I was contemplating putting the scarb high school rail but its a little short though. Still good for learning urban.

there is a back road into noble high school about an hour away, but they had this crazy rail that extends froma building that is like 15 feet flat to 20 ft down, looked really gradual, i didnt get to check it out up close, it is next to like an industrial warehouse near loading docks, it looked super prime, you could only hit the down with a tow in but it look very hitable and most likely trickable

oh, and how does the rail next to 295 slide, and not that it matters but why exactly is it there, I don't think that theres a stair set...

its a little rusty, but after you scrape it a little and put some snow on it, it slides real well. and its part of a walk way that goes under the over pass.

Thought I'd add that Windham, Maine (my hometown) has like a 40 foot mellow down with a tiny kink in it right next to Pet Quarters and Taco Bell. I think it'd be sick to get a shot on the rail, then right where the rail ends, if you still had speed you could literally go up to the taco bell drive in windham, its flat like 20 feet from where you'd land. haha

Aspen Dental in Portland has a 35 foot mellow down rail. You wouldn't even need a drop because right before the rail is a sidewalk and it ends in a sidewalk and traffic is like 30 feet away! The sidewalk goes down a hill so you could just poleplant and hit it. Donkey dick at the end too! Might be a fast bust though. =(

theres a down 9 or 10 that leads into an 11 flat 11 on the west end.. you can get speed for the 11 flat 11 from a hill that leads right to it.

Standish ME, at United Church of Christ has a beastly 60 foot curved C rail. Would be so money, its real similar to the one Nick Martini hit.

Never seen this rail but I searched "BMX Portland Maine" on youtube because I figured there'd be someone good, found this person who posted a FB pic in the comments. It was that gem. Didn't even know it existed in Deering Oaks!

That's in Gorham.. I lived near it, and it's at a fire department and a church, not really possible to hit. No room for a drop and not very steep. Also, you'll get busted in 5 minutes if you try and hit urban in North Windham on 302. Cop alley.

Deering Oaks has a real easy flat bar that rarely gets busted. Yarmouth has some sick shit around its fairgrounds areas in the woods..

Yeah, I only got a good look at the rail from my car so yeah. Oh and the North Windham rail next to petquarters, isn't a bust right away. I was eating at taco bell and watched bikers hit it for 30 minutes before they were shooed away. Windham police don't care about bikers, or snowboarders or skiers all too much because they don't have a skatepark for them. Windhams a messed up town and I hate it, but they honestly are nazis about skating street, but are loose about bmx, snowboarding. Its weird Idk why.

I wouldn't take the chance though.

And to Terminator, where in Deering Oaks is that rail? I've literally walked through all most all of the park except the sketchy places where homeless people are crawling around.

c rail across from styxx.

bomb drops from 295 to concrete slope.

swingsets on east prom.

kicker potential at the view.

bug light.

double kink at police station.

down rail at city hall.

i know of too many.

styxx is nice but its a gay bar and a mad buss.

bomb drops are perfect.

swingsets are very nice.

double kink is a bust at police station

city hall is nice but kinda short

keep your eyes peeled this winter. im deff setting up a kicker at the view also at that sledding hill on north street. banshee bungee get you going more than fast enough (30-40mph). Prolly gonna set up a wall ride or some shit on baseball backstops.

There is a sickkkkk down flat down kiddie corner from my house. corner of walnut and willis st.

Theres a crazy like 9 kink at scarbrough high school.

I remember hitting it on skates.

And that one you said you saw on the bus ride to school. Yea that a real nice rail, i live right near it.. its steep with a gnar kink but ive hit it its nice and hitable

bumpin this'

just so everyones aware, every rail in deering oaks is setup, I was there yesterday. My crew & I hit the down rail with the donkey dick and then my friend (seantom) got hurt we called 911 ambulance took him but he was okay.

And I hit my first urban /claim flat rail in deering oaks (which was already setup)

was there today, everything is dope setup. hit it with a homemade bungee. think it would be kinda hard without it. couldnt have been more stoked that we didnt have to put work into it ha ha. friday saturday sunday i will be there...

no problem dan, i met you today. ;)

Glad you checked out my thread.

I'll add these rails Shea Flynn showed me today /claim.

60 Salem Street, Portland, ME

there's a nice down flat down

another nice down flat down both of em are really long but mellow

and some other creative jibable shit.

That or deering oaks for multiple rails.

haha no worries man, just meeting you guys was a great experience. Hopefully in the future!

Western Promenade, there's a playground with a rainbow rail monkey bar swingset thing.

I feel like there's a steep down rail right outside of Fitzpatrick stadium in Portland. I went to a lacrosse game there last spring and I vaguely remember spotting a rail, it may not be hittable though.

If this means your looking for Ice Rink snow then just hit up the Biddeford Ice Arena. Its over by the YMCA in Biddeford. Its a little tough to find and I dont know how well you know the area but if you GPS it youll be fine. Its the first right after the bridge if your coming from five points. Hope that helps.
