Portal 2

i want it but no money for it right now. on another note ive been playing the gears of war 3 beta literally allllllllllllllll day

Well in a nutshell, in the first game you're basically a test subject that is trying out the new portal gun technology. At the end of the tests, they try to kill you, and you have to escape and destroy the "villain." Hopefully that didn't ruin it, but it's actually really sick and a lot of fun. Also really satisfying when you figure the puzzles out haha.

You kinda did...

Why not just say

"It's a First-Person puzzler full of sarcasm, porta-dimensional physics and of course, cake."

Yea you're probably right, but I think he wanted to know the point of you solving the puzzles, becuase from watching a trailer you can obviously tell what the gameplay is like.

my friend gifted it to me, we split the two pack cost, and im pumped as hell to play it. too bad my slow ass internet is gonna take like 10 hours to download it =[

I had it pre-ordered a few weeks in advance.
I really want to talk about the story but I don't want to ruin it for people. Spoiler-free.
Easily one of the best games I've played. They took the brilliance of the first one and expanded greatly on it. There are plenty of new gameplay mechanics so the puzzles never seem redundant. The characters are hilarious. The dialog is well written and the voice acting brings it to life.
The co-op is very well realized. It isn't just some after thought add-on, it's a fully fledged game mode with more witty monologs from GLaDOS and rather challenging puzzles. It requires real team work to succeed in co-op, one player can't just carry the other through the game.
Only complaint? Hats. Really? TF2 has more than enough hats to cover Valve's headgear needs for a while. The co-op itself doesn't have a terrible amount of replay value so unless they are going to release more co-op content why would they include such a trivial feature?
Valve really took the fps to places it had never seen before and in a market flooded with Battlefield and CoD-esque games this is a much needed breath of fresh air. I can't recommend this game enough.
I give it 9.7/10
Now if only they'd get around to finishing Half Life 3...

portal 1 was pretty sick. once i figured out what the fuck was happening, it got super addicting. not going to lie though, some levels i got stuck on and had to google..

I thought it was fairly easy, but some of the later levels had a lot of try-and-fail (I'm at a loss for words! How did you say "try until you succeed" in a contemporary way?)

anyone who says they beat portal without using google at least once is a complete asshole liar and i will never believe their claims otherwise

Hahaha so true. But i did infact beat the entire Portal 2 game yesterday

WITHOUT GOOGLE!

I felt like using Noclip in the directors console, but figured it was worthless. I beat it last night, so that says i beat it in the 24-hour timeframe after which it came out. If that makes sense.

Now i need my friend to buy it so we can play co-op...

How long did it take you all to beat it? I finished the singleplayer in six hours. Portal 1 can't have been longer than 2 and a half. The two games put together make an amazing storyline and have never-redundant, excellently awesome gameplay.

Portal 2 is the best game I've played since Ratchet and Clank... and I've not played the PS3 games; only those that came out on PS2.

i'm considering getting it for my computer eventhough i have an xbox

it's hard to imagine it on a console, part of what i loved about the first one was playing it on a comp

Technically just about that. Finished the Download at about 1:00 in the morn. Played till 3. Woke up at 1 and playedfrom 6 to 9.

Bought it for Xbox... so worth the $. And apparently if you buy it t Best Buy you get a 10$ giftcard? Pretty sweet.

it is worth $60 or should i wait for it to come out cheaper and buy used....fyi- i have xbox, dont know if that matters in determining the quality of a game

Really depends if you have a brother/ close friend/xbox live. The solo campaign is not worth 60 IMO, but when you add in the value of multiplayer, id say it's worth it.

It's worth $50 for PC or Mac, it's probably not worthi it for xbox... i'd never want to play an fps on console over computer; and portal even less so.

plus when and if DLC becomes available, you can bet your ass it'll be out for computers first, and we might even get to see a map editor— imagine TF2's modability for multiplayer

Well since there's plenty of traffic here, anyone playing Crysis 2? I was playing the demo before it came out and got somewhat addicted.

My brother got it, and it came with a copy of portal 1 which he gave to me. I love it so far, its nice and just simply fun to play. also, the test lady is funny

I played the flash version today and have been trying to find info about when it's dropping for console, I'm seriously considering getting it and I haven't even touched my box in like 3 three weeks. The game looks so fun.
