Porsche Boxster?

DONT DO IT.1. its a bitch car

2. maintenence is going to be expensive, really expensive.

3. 10 gs is not a great deal anyways, with around 60 k they always for for about 10

4. Mazda miata, cheaper, more fun to mess with. (not as powerful, but can mod for cheap to easily make a lot for hp)

5. Boxters are SO small, seating is just awful and uncomfortable.

my friends mom has one, worst thing ever, its an embarrassment to porsches

i have no idea why i even offered my help in this thread. I think i am going to stay out of car threads on NS'ers from now on.

Even one thats been beat on would probably go for way more than 10. One with a blown motor would probably go for 10. Hell a tt kit with all the supporting mods (injectors, fuel pump, fuel rails, various internal parts etc.) is almost 10k alone. With 10k you could get an ok stock 350.

IMO its a sick car to have but will most likely cost you lots of money in the future to fix. there are cool practical cars you can get for 10 grand that will be way more reliable

are they really that fun to drive and really that expensive to maintain/ what about their maintenance makes them expensive

No get one of these

How much is expensive to maintain?!?! Tronned-give us the cost for a 10k and major service. Check if the clutch has been replaced and when, at 60k that'll be a major expense. How many miles a year will you do?? Lots to consider and no real info here. Do what makes you happy though and don't listento haters,. Just do your research. Porsche are all about marketing-why do you think they don't make a cayman turbo? Because it would crush a 911..... They're good quality and it'll hold it's value better than anything else you buy for 10k after a year or two.

Good thing I already have HIV, because after coming in contact with this post I surely would have contracted it.

Unless, its a Boxster Spyder edition then don't get it..but they do drive very well and last for long time. My mom let take her ceyanne on my grandparents runway and it was quite fun. Also lasts for a while, we've had our cayanne for 4 years and haven't had any big problems. If you got the money and you feel comfortable then get it I guess if your just squeezing then don't.

Boxsters are girl cars. Miatas are even girlier girl cars. Even if they weren't this is a dumb idea. You're in a position to spend 10 grand on a car. Act like you're someone who has a 10k car budget and be realistic.

Id rather save up for a nice s2k, or Z3. Both will be cheaper maintenance, too.

Also, i dont understand all the hate coming from people who are the equivalent of weekend warriors in the car scene. But like tronned said (I'd listen to him btw out of all of ns) im staying out of ns car threads

did not read buuuuut... no no no no no no no the maintenance and insurance will outweigh the cars price and fun factor way to fast plus those boxters had transmission problems i believe

I say get it. My grandpa got a good deal and got a Boxter-s for about $10,000. Its definitely a fun car to have, especially for 10 grand. However it may come with a lot of repairs and stuff so be ready to pay for that stuff.

Dude that thing is horrendous. It's a cheaply produced coupe, with a plasticky interior and so-so driving characteristics. A boxster may have a somewhat girls image, but will drive way better than any Z car. For 10 gs, you could get a few different kinds of bimmers, a boxster, or even a jag xjr, all of which are more comfortable, drive better, and carry the namesake of a luxury brand.(mosteople don't care about that though.) s2000 is a very good choice, but for 10000, it's hard to find one under 125k miles, or hasn't been beaten or blown up

With the lack of traction control you will kill yourself, that thing is notorious for punishing everyone who dares sit in it.

I also never understood the comments: girly car, gay and not enough money for a 911.They only people I've ever heard say that where guys with baseball caps and Civics.

Especially the last one is just plain silly.

Also due to the more mid engined lay-out then the 911 the Boxster is way more balanced then a 911, it's a more enjoyable drivers car.

It's not roomy, but if you want a 2 door convertible then you have already crossed that point.

Maintenance can be very expensive but overall Boxters are rather reliable cars.

And you will have a Porsche, it doesn't matter if some people think it's gay and that it isn't the most expensive, girls will love you and want to suck your sausage.

repairs for a Porsche would cost more than the car itself after two or three years guaranted, but it is still a Porsche. get a black one.

this thread needs to be killed.. but since it persists on the front page, i'll offer OP some advice.

get the fuck off NS, and to go

http://rennlist.org

http://pelicanparts.com

if you're half serious about it, make an account and start talking to people who actually know/drive/wrench these cars.

for 10k, you're probably going to be looking at a 2.5L mk1 boxster. if you can find a 2.7 (or best yet, an S), take it to a reputable shop for a PPI and make sure that deferred maintenance has been taken care of.

porsches are generally over-engineered and extremely reliable given that preventative maintenance is kept up

find a good independent mechanic, parts source and buy some tools/manuals if you're worried about excessive costs. you're not looking at much more $ (if anything) than any other higher end european car.

early boxsters are remarkably well balanced cars, and have more than enough power to get you well into more trouble that your abilities will allow.

if you're prepared to learn that car and how to benefit it, ownership will be highly rewarding.

If you're in it because "I can buy a porch-a for 10gZ", don't... go buy something less demanding of your time, money and efforts.

-if you're into this, you can PM me. I can offer you some insight into porsche ownership.

you do realize i was a tech at a porsche dealership for 4 years right? If this kid wanted to PM me, i would have been glad to help.

I can see what you are saying and get the fuck to rennlist but a good portion of car forum arm chair warriors are so out of touch with real life. I am in a shop for 11 hours a day, I have seen much more than 99 percent of forum users will ever see.

porsche "ownership" remark is a joke as well... it is a fucking car, not a lifestyle.

this kid will almost surely not buy a 986.
