So wats some of the more popular gear. I uno which stuff 2 get. Money is really a factor I can spend nearly as much as i want. I need a new jacket and pants. Wat 2 get.

 
How about you go down to the store and find what you like the most and then buy it, and stop basing all your decisions on other people? Really...

Anyways I'm sure everyone will saay Oakley. I'll say Arcteryx.

Well then, arcteryx. Like I said. Unless you're a poser who just wants to look trendy while sitting in the park. In which case, Oakley, which is also fairly good quality.

Note that you dont have to be a poser to wear oakley, but if you are one...

airwalk makes nice pants for a good price, and as far as a jacket, get a really nice inner layer, like columbia sportswear or something, then just buy a shell, it works out better than buying a jacket, becasue you can take out the inner layer on hot days and still be warm on cool days.

Yes, definitely do NOT buy a Columbia jacket, they are overpriced and they suck ass. They are comfy though. My jacket is pretty comfy and 30,000mm waterproof, only thing I've found that works better are Arteryx jackets but I cant afford one and my cousin wont let me have his for free. What a bastard, eh?

 
go the SMS clothing route. www.smsclothing.com. They make stuff specifically for newschool skiing. Priced right to. If you want stuff that is really heavy and bomb proof and cost way too much go oakley. But SMS stuff is super breathable, waterproof, warm, and light.

If you ski hard then Columbia isn't very good. It's quite cheap but it won't last. If money isn't an option and you want good gear then make sure it's made of Gore-Tex, can't go wrong with that. Mountain Hardware, MacPac, Fairydown, Helly Hansen, all make good stuff that will last and be comfortable. Unless of course you want to be a poser bitch, then get Rip Curl, O'Neil, Oakley or any of those other shitty brands that make crap gear at a million dollars a set.

Try stuff on, see what fits, decide on what you think looks good on you, then buy it. Done. And for the record, everyone I know with an Arcteryx jacket loves the waterproofness, but hates the lack of functionality for skiing, ie not enough well placed, well designed pockets, collar isn't high enough, etc. I've had great luck with Helly Hansen(after some initial quality issues) and Burton, so they're my recommendations.

Man price is not a issue so why dont u look a predator wear and Fate clothing The North Face they all make really nice stuff and it all looks pretty badass.

There is no such thing as shitty snow only shitty skiers.

If it was easy they would call it snowboarding.
 
^^^ Yea I have burton ronin pants they've worked really well for me, they lasted about 2 seasons as my 'good' pants before i needed new ones. still waterproof though.

 
Mountain Hardwear, Marmot, and Arc'teryx are all better than North Face at this point in time.

I swear by North Face, Burton (awesome pants), Bonfire has some decent priced pretty good quality stuff, Spyder has some good stuff (but not really newschool), Swany for gloves.

My brother has had Oakley pants for a couple years and loves em, and Helly Hansen stuff has always been good too.

Haven't tried Cloudveil, but I looked into some of there stuff, just seemed REALLY pricey.

 
They all match NF's lifetime warranty, except Arc'Teryx, which I'm not sure about... Mt. Hardwear and Marmot both have it though. The big reason I'm down on NF right now is because their customer service SUCKS. Have you ever actually sent something in? It takes *forever* to get it back. I sent in a backpack at Thanksgiving, and I haven't even gotten a 'We're shipping it back now' response yet. They're 'Determining the status of the RMA'. For 2 months. As opposed to the Mt. Hardware gloves that I caught on a tree and ripped a piece off of, they had me a new pair within a week.

^good to know, and NF, if you gotta send something in, best bet is send it in through a shop and in the end of the season, just try to hold it together with duct tape through the season, because they do take a long time to get back to you.
