Popping for switch flips

So I've been trying some switch fronts and backs in the past couple weeks and I've had a really hard time popping off the lip to get the extra height to get all the way around on the fronts. I can spin fine because I'm staggered for the spins going right off the jump so I'm practically already spinning when I pop.

So does anyone have any tips for popping off and still being set for the flip?

not sure abotu switch fronts but i nailed the switch back a few years ago and its as easy as pie. most of it is just commitment.

push from the hips at the lip and spot your landing from the get go.

its all in the hips and balls of your feet at the lip, rotate and stick. simple.

i find if i throw a saftey grab or japan i think less about the flip and in turn its more style and less sketch.

good luck!

Yeah I know I've landed one. But only one haha. My question is how to pop so that I can get a slower rotation (no hucking).

doing backflips off of shit ( like without skis on) really helped for me. If you want to slow it down, try rotating normal and then just kind of stare at the groundand bring it around. It gives you like a vertigo sensation at first but you'll get used to it. I haven't done a switch frontflip though.

i think alot of it comes with trust. im serious when i say it comes from the hips. the rotation is set from the hips just like a good spin. you shouldnt have ton force your wieght. you shouldnt have to crank your arms either. the other key is hucking. you cant have a slow rotation without a fair amount of air.

i would recommend tryin into pow a few times focusing on a slow rotation.

i would also recommend going to camp if you can this summer. stop in at momentum or HN. those guys will give you hands on instruction. plus you'll get to give it a whirl on the water ramp.

or you can learn the hard way like i did. in the icy big sky terrain park.

the first time i did it was on a 30' table. i got upside down stopped rotatin and landed directly on my head. i was wearing a pro-tech helmet at the time and split it into 4 pieces. true story.

my cuz was there and got it all on film. one of the hardest hits ive ever taken. grade 3 concussion and what not.
