Poor Rocco

yeah i like rocco that was a lot of fun to watch, but tiger completely played different shots that arent as effective just to be able to play on his knee. kudos to him
 
What a bummer, Rocco's probably the nicest guy in golf and has never won a major. What's it to Tiger if he wins another major? It would have meant so much more to Rocco, and I felt that he deserved it. He had two chances to put it away on 18 but he just couldn't do it. Nevertheless, it was one of the better US Opens of all time.
 
They both deserved it. They were still tied after 90 fucking holes! It was super close, I would have loved to see Rocco win it, but Tiger came up huge when he needed to and ended up winning. It was amazing golf, and everybody really won. Despite not winning the Open, Rocco secured a spot on the tour for 5 more years (exemption until his senior tour eligibilty) a huge payday, and raised his world ranking by over 100 spots to sit at 47. Plus fans got to watch some of the most exciting golf in many many years.
 
Are you serious.......Tiger has worked his whole life to get to this point and deserves to win. Rocco is a journey man and prolly won't ever get another chance to win a major, but that doesn't mean he deserved it any more then Tiger. Some people hate on Tiger because he always wins, but look at the bigger picture. You're witnessing the greatest athlete ever to play their respective sport. This is history in the making. I'm glad to see him win and I can't wait to watch the 18th and 19th major victory in his career.
 
If he should have won he would have beat tiger, the fact his knee is fucked up and played one vs one with rocco and won proves that he deserved it.
 
What's it to Tiger? He's trying to break Jack Nicholas's record of the most majors (18, Tiger is at 14 now). Basically he's trying to leave his mark as the best golfer in history. I agree that Rocco is a super nice guy, but i don't know if he deserved it more.

it was thrilling golf regardless, I would just like to see someone other than Tiger go down in the record books as the greatest golfer of all time....
 
Tiger came on top because he's the better golfer. The difference is clear... When it came down to it Tiger made the puts when he had to. Took the him and he sunk the 20ft+ shot yesturday to force a playoff. Rocco couldnt sink the 20ft to keep himself going today. Thats the difference between a pro who has won before and someone who hasnt.
 
That's racist as fuck. No one has any reason not to like Tiger, he is the most dominate athlete on the planet and is the clutchest athlete in any sport. Tiger NEVER misses big putts. No one has any fuckin reason to dislike Tiger unless you are a racist prick
 
have you ever been to a PGA tour event? Not only is Tiger one of the biggest pricks on tour, he has a horrible temper and can't control his mouth if he has a bad shot(regardless of if children are in earshot), he has taken a 9 iron to the Augusta Nat'l Lockers (hallowed ground),and is just a douche in general. I've gone to the masters, I know what i'm talking about.
 
Tiger deserved it all the way.. He hasnt played competitively since his knee surgery which was right after the masters. For him to recover and win the US open is incredible. Hes easily the best golfer in the world
 
i've met Tiger and he was a super nice guy. and it wasn't just shake his hand when he walked by on the course, i met him in the club house at Cog Hill. just because he's very competitive, doesn't mean he's a douche.

and so what if he can't control his mouth. if the worst thing that ever happens to a kid is they hear their hero swear, they've had a damn good life. there's so much more important shit to worry about than some fucking words.

but you obviously don't know what gets forgotten about in history, or by the media, this kind of shit happens and isn't significant. unless it's tiger woods vs. bob barker on the 9th green, it'll never matter if aggression comes out after a match which he probably lost and was upset after the fact in the locker. he's tiger woods end of that story. as for mediate, i do think its sad that rocco couldn't pull it out, you can't ask tiger to just submit though. hes a fierce competitor, which may contribute to his temper in a locker room etc. but i wish rocco could have beeat him, 3 boys, 45 years old, never won a major, that would have been fantastic for his future as a golfer, being automatically invited to the british and the masters and others. better luck.
 
I don't think we'll be seeing much of Tiger for a little while now. His knee is fucked. 3rd surgery on the same one. He's almost certainly going to miss the Open Championship, probably more too. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if we don't see him again until just before Agusta next year.
 
I dont know about his knee. Obviously it's still recovering, but my question is what was the injury. No way it was a micro fracture (cartilage damage) because he wouldn't be walking for 6 weeks. I doubt it was anything reconstructive because once again, I don't think hed be walking. My guess is a slight tear to meniscus or acl that was trimmed up. Those take time to heal, but not a career ender. I mean, he's only been what, 6 weeks removed from surgery and he wins the US open, way too early to tell.

And as far as Tiger having a temper, yeah he does, but it's his competitive drive. He's also known for having one of the worst mouths and tells some of the dirtiest jokes. But he's a human being, we think, and has class. He's done a lot of good things with his success and wants his legacy to be more then Tiger the golfer. So I doubt that warrants him being called a douche.
 
dude rocco deserved it way more tigers won enough and you have to give rocco credit for hanging in with the best golfer in the world when rocco was ranked 158 no rocco deserved it way more
 
Deserved to win???? They both played their hearts out and in the end, Tiger won, they both deserved it as much. Just because he has 13 majors before hand and a ton of victories on the PGA tour and worldwide, doesn't mean he deserved it any less. He's worked and trained his whole life to get where he is at. You guys throw out golf rankings, that may be true, but any one player can have a hot weekend and world rankings mean nothing at that point. Rocco gave Tiger one hell of a run, and in the end, Tiger hit the shots when he had to. A testiment to his outstanding mental and physical abilities........nothing about him deserving it more or less. Just be thankful you're living in an era to witness the greatest athlete to ever play their sport. This is history in the making. Enjoy it.
 
okay try this. tiger deserved it more because torrey pines is basically his home course, also it was a father's day tournament and this is his first fathers day with his daughter. oh and maybe he deserved it because he beat the entire field with a knee he couldn't even manage to walk on at times. you can give reasons why both deserved it; but it comes down to they both deserved it but the more experienced guy got it. more experienced as in these type of do or die situations...

and to the guy saying how tiger has a bad temper and shit? who cares. i would not classify that as a bad temper. he threw his club on the ground because he is a professional golfer and hit a bad shot, that he KNOWS he could hit better. or he swore in the fairway bunker, big deal. i'm sure most of the kids that hear it swear themselves. and just cause you've seen him play from so many yards away doesn't mean you know. jeeze don't ever go to a golf course...i hear guys cussing up a storm 4 holes away. and i've seen guys throw their clubs 30 yards. actually let's stay inside and sit in a corner, because tiger is a bad man.
 
actually i would haveto say you cant dispute who deserved it more because whoever wins deserves it unless the game is rigged somehow which it wasnt so tiger deserves it
 
he actually did give rocco a chance thats why it went into an 18 hole play-off THEN in to sudden death after that, i think thats as much of a chance as roccos gunna get to win the US open against the #1 golfer in the world
 
Tiger demands perfection out of himself which is why he is the greatest golfer ever, when he hits a bad shot he is upset with himself. People overreact when you can read his lips on TV saying "fuck". everybody who has ever played golf has gotten pissed at themselves and said fuck. He is a human being, he makes mistakes and gets upset just like other people.
