Poor Boyz Productions Undiscovered Q&A

Hey NS,

Poor Boyz Productions here to introduce the Undiscovered contest we're hosting. We're giving away 3 grand prizes of both $5,000 and a trip to Chile to ski and film with the Poor Boyz crew. All you need to do to enter is submit a 90 second video with your best skiing. Entry is open to everyone, apart from fully professional skiers (ie. actually paid to ski), who is 21+ and a resident of the US.

Entry closes March 16th so start getting your shots together!

We're opening up the floor to your questions and will be answering them live in the forums on Thursday the 12th from 11 am - 1 pm EST.

21+?

I understand you don't want to deal with a 14 year old kid with traveling and trying to have fun in the nighlife and what not. But I know there is so much talent in the 18-20 YO range that you're just throwing out the window. To be honest, most of the people I know that are going out and killing it on a daily basis are under 21. Why is this a requirement in a contest that should be talent orientated?

Video competitions seem to be gaining some traction. Super Unknown, the North Face Park and Pipe, and now you guys. Do you see this as a continuing trend in freeskiing? A sport a lot of us feel that needs more and better put together physical content. What drove you guys to choose a video entry?

Why Chile?

What kind of things are you looking for in the videos?

Stoked to see this thing go down!

You win money, get to go to Chile, and have to be over 21. Who cares that it's similar super unknown, it provides more opportunities for people.

I could see the SU winner winning this as well since they could submit the se video

I think you're not allowed to submit a video you've used for another contest, check out the submission rules herehttp://theundiscovered.discoveryouraltitude.com/rules

however... the video for this only has to be 90 seconds so it shouldn't be too hard to stack some shots haha

My question is.... what's the real distinction for fully pro and not? sponsor's websites or salaries or what?

The 21+ has to do with the sponsors of the event, and some lawyers we have never met in a room far away from a mtn.. Unfortunately that is just how it is this time around. We also hope that given the slightly older demographic we will encourage a lot of people who have dedicated their lives to this sport to keep sending it!

We love the idea of video competitions as it is the truest way for skiers to show off their talents. There are no geographic limitation as is the case with traditional comps. We also don't want people to worry about having a filmer, some of the dopest shots all year come from the POV angle!

This is the first time we have done something like this and we hope to continue the trend for years to come!

Thanks for your interest!! Hope to see you enter..

Chile is dope!!

They get the best snow in the summer so we figured it would be a perfect zone to take three ripping skiers to make a short film!

We are looking for style and drive mostly. We want to see you guys sending it in all capacities of the sport of skiing. We don't want to limit it to any 'type'.

Hope to see you enter!!

Thanks,

PBP

Troy,

It is similar but in no way the same. We are looking for people who are slightly older and have been killing it for years and not yet getting the ultimate respect they deserve.

We want this contest to highlight some incredible skiers that haven't quite gotten their time in the spotlight.

Also we are making an entire short film about these skiers and promoting the heck out of it.

End of the day we have immense respect for Josh Berman and the whole Level 1 crew and think they would agree that we are only trying to further grow the stoke!

Cheers,

PBP

You said it man!!!

We just want to share the love for skiing even more..

Oh yea and we are giving away, $5,000.00 USD to three people, that's $15K total on top of the heli trip!

Cheers!

You can use select footage from other video's just not all the same exact same shots!

90-secs of your most banger footage, shouldn't be too tough right??

Answer: DAILY DOUBLE.. just kidding, but it's a really fine line. There are a lot of insane skiers who get hooked up with product and some travel support by companies. We still want these guys/girls to enter.

To be a 'true pro' you need to make over $25,000.00 (or >30% of your annual income) a year from skiing sponsorship or contest winnings. There are not a lot of people in that boat so we want everyone to feel good about entering!

Please let us know if you need any further info on this Nutz!

Hope to see your video!!

Cheers,

PBP

Luckily now we have Doug-y-fresh helping pick the winners :)

Gotta pass it onto the next generation ya know?

Definitely note this guys - I'm one of the judges so don't feel that if you don't have your big mountain slay on you don't have a chance. I'm 100% pro street and park. I will judge fairly across all categories.

Just make it happen!!

What ad are you talking about?!?

The ad before all of the NS videos... is it supposed to be silent? I usually just change tabs when it plays and wait for the edit to start.

Sarazen,

What do you mean make connections?

Thanks,

PBP

Do you guys have connections with any resorts or people out there? When you get to Chile are you on your own or do you have some sort of guide showing you sick spots and good places to go?

We have a pretty good network lined up already.. is there someone specifically you had in mind?

Thanks,

PBP

Hey Juho,

The US only designation is from a legal standpoint. Sorry if that disqualifies you.. Stoked on your interest.

Stay up!

PBP

Sick idea for a comp.. but it should be open to the whole world.. so many amazing skiers will be left out in the cold casue of this..

Hey - what is the exact cutoff time for entries?

I don't fit in the age range so..can I be a judge? I'll judge fairly across all categories like Bishop. It would be cool to do.
