I'll preface this with I am not a mormon,
But I have recently moved to SLC, and polygamy is no longer practiced by the LDS. The LDS are actually harmless, much like any other religious sect. They are nice people, who are extremely ethical and moral.
The only reason polygamy was ever practiced is because of the amount of loss the mormons took on their journey across country. A large percentage of the men were killed by indian attacks and there were a ton of women and not many men. The solution at the time was polygamy.

fuck mormons. mainly because they try to convert people all the time. i do my laundry at a laundromat on the mexican side of town, and they hang out there and try to convert people. thats real nice, praying on the poor and ignorant. real classy

ignorant much? it's really not difficult to understand that the FLDS and the LDS are different. and NO polygamists should NOT be able to do what they want if it includes old creepsters marrying 13 year old girls and consummating them in their temples in front of other people. a 13 year old cannot make the decision to be married.

not too hard to understand the two are not the same religion. Any member of the FLDS church that was a mormon has been excommunicated. In no way does the LDS church teach polygamy they used to but not anymore, and yes it did have something to do with the fact that a majority of the men were killed on the trek to Utah. They quit the practice of polygamy over 100 years ago
