Pollards v Prophet 130s

any thoughts??? preferences?

i tried both last season in utah but still undecided.

can't decide and i go back and forth.

i like skiing a wide ski and these would be primarily for out west, but also for some east coast missions.

right now i'm on a pair of 4frnt MSPs. last season it was a pair of pollards. and before that scratch BCs. love them all, but they often feel a touch too narrow. i spend most of my time snowboarding now so am really used to a wider feel on the snow.

thanks.

I'd say pollards because they're cheaper and they'll perform better all around rather than just pow.

between those two the prophet 130.

why get something so narrow? and some people seem to like the prophet everywhere. i dont think I would, but if you do then go for it for sure

ski a bit of everything...

either size would be fine for me...

right now my MSPs are 180s

and prior to that i was on Pollards = 186

so not shy about a bit of length.

it's more a question of width.

Let's put it this way. If you are on the east coast, Prophet 130s are too damn wide... I mean seriously, you don't need them unless you are in like 5 feet of blower. I'm telling you that the perfect medium is the Motherships or the Prophet 100's. If I had to answer though, I'd say go with the Pollards.

yes twinned but i believe the tail is slighter shorter than the tip (or at least it felt that way).

good solid ski. good in the turns, feels decent in the air. i equate it as a great Tahoe ski. or Jay Peak ski.

hard charger. let me see if i can dig up the specs.

Tough choice, Prophet 130's and Elizabeth's are both super sick skis. I know that personally, I'll be getting more days on my Elizabeths this season.

I'm an east coaster myself, and unless you live up near jay peak or are gunna be riding down mount washington i'd go with the elizabeths, more of an all around ski, which is really important out here, the prophet 130's are overkill

Prophet 130s are not the beasts that everybody makes them out to be. Prophet 100s have the metal matrix, they are stiffer skis, they will hurt your legs more. People can actually butter the 130s. Elizabeths are made for BC booters and terrain park. If you have a newschool, trick heavy skiing style, Elizabeths are great, but for all mountain riding, ripping up the BC, and still doing decent in the park, I would go for the 130s.

Just my 2 cents.

I understand your questio quite well and I also see how people in here would recommend throwing other skis into the mix. Fist in answer to your question anybody who says the Elizabeth would be more versatile has obviously not skied both skis in question as you and I both have. The Prophet is the clear Big Mountain choice between the two and it skis just as well switch in powder which is the only thing the Elizabeth does really well. If you need bigger than 100 and you live in the east you should check out the 182cm VCT it's 104 underfoot and stiffer than both these Lines which are both very soft. I skied the 130 quite a bit last year and am getting them again for this year, but I live in California and we get a lot of snow. It's up to you but I'd stick with the 130's or something else in that category which the Elizabeth really isn't.

snwbrdrhoon, how tall are you, and how much do you weigh? i think the elizabeths would be the shit unless you are a pretty big guy.

I ski out east as well. and having demo'd both of them this season at my mountain, definitely check out the prophets more. theyre a super sick ski and it would be my choice if i could afford a new ski this year.
