Pollard Pros

I am currently riding a pair of line maverick 160's and they are quite small for me as i bought them 2 years ago. I am saving up for a pair of Pollard Pros and I was wondering if anyone has ridden both of these and could tell me how they compare. I have also ridden a pair of demo scratch bcs(185) and thought they ran pretty well.

And by the way dont tell me to demo them because my local mountain doesn't demo line, so i am kind of stuck.

Thanks

about the same flex as scratch bc's, but lighter, and mounted MUCH more forward. they carve better than the BC's both regular and switch. you'll never have as much control riding switch as you do on the pollards. i've never had them in deep powder, so i can't vouch for their performance there. they are narrower than BC's though. i've never ridden mavericks.

^no dude, the bc's flex is alot more even, the pollards have a soft tails and pretty stiff mid section, they're alrgith for carving but the overall versatility of the bc's i liked alot more, they can carve like mad and rip pow, i liked the bc's better, they were also way better in teh crud

A homophobe once told me that skiing on parabolics is like getting a blowjob from a gay guy, it feels good until you look down.

I just got new Pollards, and spent one day ripping them in the steep and deep, and one day sessioning in the park. Conclusions: The skis are stiff and stable in the pow and crud, while maintaining the Line characteristic of being light and springy, easy to maneuver. They are mounted really forward, the tails on them surprised me and took a bit of getting used to for big-mountain riding, but it doesnt detract from the ride much, and it's nice to have that length behind you when you get backseat.

In park, they just kill it, hands down, everywhere. I did some huge sketchy 180s and thought I was going to die, but those monster tails just glue themselves to the snow like a pro-ho on tanner. They ride fakie like God on a skateboard.

how big are you guys because i want to buy pollards and i'm 5'9 145lbs and i think they might just be a little to big

Thanks a lot for the comments, but I have one final question. Do they bounce around pretty easy in the crud, or do they keep a pretty smooth edge? When I tried the Scratches they seem to really keep an edge, but i am not sure if the pollards do because i have not tried anything else besides mavericks and bcs. Thanks a lot for the help.

hey guys i got a question. how do the pollards adapt to the park. i dont know much about line but i know the BC's can transfer very well in the park. from what ive heard the pollards rip in powder but what about park. and do they hold well on grooms or should i be looking for a different skis with these characteristics. thanks

How would the flex compare to my old pair of Skogens, (the orange and blue with the train on them), because that ski is a bit too short for me, and way too soft on the tips and tails. i dont think it has a carbon ollie band... do the pollards have one? i want something with a bit more snap for when i venture into the park.

Well the Line site doesn't say anything about Carbon Ollie Bands in current skis, except the 1260s... but on Getboards.com, every pro model, the mo'ship flite, and the chronics have the ollie band. i just wanted to know from 1260 riders if the ollie band works really well, and how the pollards hold up in the park. I want to get the chronics, but id rather get a longer ski. I ride 176 skogens and they're too short for me. The 177cm length of chronics bothers me, so i was thinking of saving up for pollards next year. i just wish i could demo next fall.

i got mine for 75 bucks and they just came in... there so nice. i think they do have the ollieband because when you look through the little window in them that shows the core theres 4 or 5 black lines going down it

where are you getting them for 280

i got mine for $300 new, off ebay. and yep, they have the carbon ollie band, as has been said.

is there any reason to wait for next years?

only reason to wait for next year would be graphics. unless they are putting those double-thick edges on all their skis next year... but i think those are only on chronics.

yea..all the promodels, as far as I know..are going to have the 'fatty' base and edge to make them more durable..not sure about 1260's and assasins though..

yeah i saw a pair in lake tahoe and he is right they do have the carbon ollie band
