Pollard - Overrated?

Phrosty

Does anyone else think this guy is overrated? I mean I haven't seen him throw anything advanced, only like 180's and 3's. I know alot of you ass rammers are gona say 'But he is so stylie' Fuck that. Everyone is using style as a replacement for skill and advancement. He doesn't deserve a pro model.

c_lo - 'Alright, Phrosty is a homo but I'm going to have to agree with him on the poser issue here.'

powskier1080 - 'All your signature sums up is how big a fuckup you are.'

googoo271 - 'Oh of course we get a post from our good ignorant assfuck, phrosty'

Oh, shit I spelt something wrong? Fuck you cocksucker!

I think pollard isn't over rated. He is a damn good skier. Did you watch sm3 when he skied that whole line switch. You gotta admit that takes a lot of talent. He is still what 21, there is still alot of time for him to get alot better in this sport. So i guess i would disagree with you on this one.

-----------------

skiing is just another way to please yourself without the mess.

you obviously don't know what you are talking about either cause he is not 21 he is like 18

fuk that

ive seen him throw unnaty flat 7's and huge unnatural mistys, he can go both ways so naturally its amazing to watch

hes 20(couple days younger than me) and yah if actually watched any of his movie segments youd realize. and that switch pow line was so sick, do you have any idea how much balls it takes to turn at speeds like that switch in pow.

i would comment but tyler would kill me

Well, In SPUN, which is the video Iberg made before Royalty Pollard throws a flatspin 900 safety, and that was 3 years ago, it's not that he cant spin big stuff, he rather do his own kinda stuff, and I think what he does is sweet. He's definantly not overrated.

yea i think its funny how Dash Longe cant spin more than a 5 and he made it to where he is now..... and as for pollard hes a machine.... just watch his segments..... look through the style and see how hes throwing his tricks....

ya im going to agree with you, like look at his x games run, like 360s rodeo 5 and 180 i mean sure the where styled but soo was every trick that tanner threw. I was impressed with is fakie skiing in sm3 but the tricks he threw wernt overly styled or with huge air, i do give him props for switch backcountry hits but the armada riders are throwing switch cork 5s off cliffs with more style then his switch 5s that where just off a booter...

'Joyride Flims'

hes the best skier ever

theres hoes on stage, theres hoes by tha bar

hos by near, an hos by far

i give props for being able to ski actual lines... not just the switch run, but real lines... plus hes got a neato bag o tricks. im not crazy about his style, but whatever. hes better than me...

-all you need are drums to start a dance party-

dash can't spin more then 5, but he throws his spins right and left both switch and regular and with any grab you can think of.

Don't think just jump.

i think dash longes segment in blunt was really good. He didnt do very difficult tricks but it looked like he was having fun at least.

i didnt say Dash can't spin more then 5, I said he choses not too because thats what he feels like doing, and you know what, I give the kid mad props for not spinning more than 5. He is one of the styliest skiers out there. Watch him ski, and you will understand that he spins natural, unnatural, with any grab you can ever think of. And i bet after watching one of his segments you won't be able to tell which way he spins natural and unnatural because he is so damn smooth each way.

not too mention eric pollard is probably the only person i know to do a zero spin off a cornice in the backcountry. it's in a new ad for gloves in the new powder

ya know what? if you don't know what your talking about, don't post. pollard works hard to be a great skier. if you've ever skied with hime before you would know. he spends the entire day working on a grab, or working on a slow, smooth unnatural 3.

Just Huck It.

Anyone who hasn't been to hood and seen him ski. Don't say he's overated because he's the best damn skier in the world.

I can see where you are goin with this. Your basically wondering whether he could throw a huge bio 12. We honestly need to get away from 'spinnin is winnin' mentality if we want our sport to succeed. Anybody with balls can huck themselves, do it more and more often, and they can start to stick the landing. Soon we will have tricks like flat-spin 1080's, double rodeo 12's, and so on. Whats left after that? Pollard is showing us you don't need to spin as hard as you can to be successful, or look cool. And he's where the sport is heading.

now when somebody asks me if i ever decapitated a fetus, i know what to say- My lab partner after a dissection gone wrong.

alright plenty of kids including myself on this sight can throw huge shit like anything from bio7's to switch corked 9s if dash got sponsered for doing 5s fuck him give me and all the other good kids on this site some credit

SNOW GODDAMMIT!

you know why youre not sponsored? because you have a bad attitude and are obviously pretty cocky.

nobody on here cares what you can do, nor did they ask what you could do.

Dash is better than you. Anybody that has the balls to go against the flow and the whole 'spin to win' attitude deserves to be sponsored and should have more segments in videos. Can you slide rails like him. He has a park line in Blunt that is SICK. Frontside, backside, switch on, switch off, 270 on, 270 off. It was sick.

yeah check out pollard's huge zero spin off a cornice in stereotype . . . he's got so much talent and style

i partially agree pollard was good in propaganda but this year he seemed to get less stylie and was using the backcountry stuff as an excuce for his lack of big tricks attempted..... he's a great skier but i think he should try to do technical tricks like switch rodeo 5s and 7's with style instead of doin the same ones over and over

Ah!?! how can you bash Pollard?!?! hes so fuckin good, and he has the smoothest style, and he does do huge tricks, they're just so smooth and stylie, they don't look forced at all.

Lets go skiing

i don't see why people say 'backcountry skiing is his excuse for not having a big bag of tricks' or whatever. It seems that skiing is just about jumping and spinning and sliding rails. People need to realise that skiing is also about making turns, skiing lines. Skiiing a powder line fakie is some pretty progressive shit in my opinion.

-Chris Peck

yes CTripper, i agree- fuck the park, seriously, fuck it. i hate doign jumps, i'd rather just ski awesome terrain and good snow. why is he a shitty skier if he doesnt huck 1260s off jumps? i bet he could rip a big mountain line with the best of them.

alright, pollard is by far underrated. Ya a lot of you peopel are saying look at his fakie run in ski movie III but thats one thing and doesnt define the man. Pollard works mainly style, thats what makes him great. He can do almost every thing in both directions, natural, unnatural, fakie natural, fakie unnatural. A lot of the pros out there can huck huge spins that make your mouth drop but they can only do it that one way. In skiing you can do everything 4 ways. Most pros only do it to ways and are sketchy when it comes to the other ways. Pollard does it all 4 ways and maes sure it is smooth, stylie and unique. To me unless the jump is huge stuff over a 7 starts to look hucked and to fast wich looses a lot of style, what i like in style at least. Everyone has their own preference in style. For me i like slow smooth rotations with When you start spinning bio 12's, misty 10's, rodeo 10's, etc i find you start to see more of an aryalists in the air rather than someone taking it smooth and slow. I still like to see a big trick thrown down that makes me say that was crazy as hell, but id much rather see somthing thrown smooth with style.

So back to your question, is Pollard over rated? Depends on what your prefrences are.

I just wanna ski, is that to much to ask in life

i think what hes trying to say is, Eric throws a super styled 360 but Jon and Tanner are throwing super style D9s cab 7s and alot harder tricks then 3s plus they are going bigger and with just as much style, and pep can throw unnaturl shit with the best of them plus is super style. Im not saying that eric isnt a good skier but i think that all these skiers like eric have played out the'style' thing way to much.

'Joyride Flims'

though im not eric pollard, i think, i know how he thinks.....he just dont give a fuck. he would rather have smooth style over hucking any day. a good video segment is better than competition. thats why he dont even compete no more. hes beyond that shit for sure...sorry...drunk...uh..

'When I'm mad as fuck you get shot and to some it's bad luck, I believe you held something back for too long, it grew strong and energy got its own will, and people think that we make music still, but music is there without you or me we just minipulate for better or worse so let it situate.'

dash could do a bio and cork 0 if he wanted to

me: what the hell is that?

sister:its a boat u dumbass

me:well what the fuck do they nedd it for? the shitheads

pollard's a cool guy, I met him at the SM3 premiere at Saratoga Winners and hes def. mellow and all that hoopla, his segments in SM3 were sick and i'm sure we'll be hearing alot more form him

'Eric throws a super styled 360 but Jon and Tanner are throwing super style D9s cab 7s and alot harder tricks then 3s plus they are going bigger and with just as much style' D-spin

The thing is though that when Jon and Tanner are throwing D9's and pollard is throwing stuff like a corked 5. Tanner and Jon can do D9's forward and fakie. Pollard ont he other hand throws his corckd 5 natural, switch, fakie, and fakie switch. Thats just the point im trying to make. Like i said befor, my idea of style my be different the others.

I just wanna ski, is that to much to ask in life

its cool to throw small, stylie tricks and all, but u have to have the technical skills, too. i love styled 5s and stuff, but a skier has to show range, doing big spins to go with the smaller ones. look at tanner, in happy dayz he throws everything from 180s to 1080s, and they all look good. i wasnt impressed with pollard in sm3 very much. yeah, the fakie line was sick, but his tricks werent that great at all in my opinion. when he threw the bigger spins, he didnt even grab until he was about to land. and for all of u saying how he's sick b/c u've seen him throw big stuff in person, how are the rest of us who've never seen him in person supposed to know he can do it? i can only judge him by what i've seen, and i personally see him as overrated.

i dont get pissed off easily but fuck all of u who doesnt like Pollards or Dash's style, these guys are pretty much my idols and if u dont like there style dont come on here and complain about it!

-i just farted, can you smell it?-

'its cool to throw small, stylie tricks and all, but u have to have the technical skills, too' SKItheBURG

so are you saying that when pollard dose everything smooth and with style in all directions isnt technical? Spinning big isnt the only way to be technical.

I just wanna ski, is that to much to ask in life
