They'd probably be over kill for most EC skiers, unless I was regularly skiing one of the few 'snowy' EC hills (eg. Jay Peak) and taking regular trips out west I would bother going above 110 underfoot.
A lot of guys on here seem to like unnecessarily wide ski, so don't be surprised if you get a few conflicting answers. If your set on a pair of boards then go for it. But unless you already have something in the 108ish underfoot range and you'll be using the Opuses as a pretty specific complement to an established EC quiver then I'd suggest you could put your £€$¥ to better use.

Overkill. By a lot. I had a pair I used for an entire season every day at Stowe, and while it was fun, I found myself wishing I had something a little smaller underfoot. Smaller underfoot would have yielded faster transitions from edge to edge and better edge hold in general.

118 is a bit of an overkill. For East Coast pow I would go anywhere from 98-110.
Blizzard makes some great east coast pow skis, also look at the ON3P Kartel 106 or 98 or the Line Sir Francis Bacon for the soft stuff.
