Poll : Smoking weed and going to college.

It doesn't. You effect your own grades with the choices that you make. Stop trying to find scapegoats to blame problems on.

.

I'm not in college but I am doing "running start" where I take basic college classes like english 101 and other prerequsite classes at the community college in my area and get high school as well as college credits. So I guess I am sort of a college student? And I blaze daily on the way to school and during my lunch break, maintaining a 3.0.

I was definitely high almost every day of high school (especially junior/senior year) and I just graduated with a 4.25 gpa. I'm going to NYU in the fall and I definitely plan to keep blazing at a similar pace.

Truth, I've never been to college but I just graduated highschool. As long as you have good time management its fine, i've toked almost daily for the last two years and in those two years got a higher gpa than i ever have, last semester I got a weighted 4.4 without even trying and focusing more on weed than shcool. Now in college I plan on it being much harder than highschool(hopefully) and therefore and hoping to cut back to every few days or every weekend, probably wont happen for a couple years though...

Smoked every once in a while in high school, got fairly bad grades. Went to to state school, smoked less, got worse grades, transferred to CC, smoked everyday and got very good grades. Guess the more weed i smoke the smarter i get. But seriously if you have any type of self control weed will pretty much have no negative side affects.

I like how everyone in this thread is like, "OH look at me... I got above a 4.0 GPA and blazed phat bowls every day. Hell yeah, I'm soooo successful, I got it made!"

Yes good grades might mean you managing your time well and maybe you are an intelligent human being but by NO MEANS does it mean that there are no negative side effects from smoking evertday.

I would love the same people to bump this thread in a few years and see how the kids with 4.0 GPAs are doing and still toking daily. Some might succeed but my guess is majority will not.

First year I smoked quite a bit of weed. Second year, I did on occasion and third year I toned it down to almost never. I think it is fully possible to do an "easier" undergrad (ie business, social sciences, geology, etc) while being a daily smoker.

However I am saying this as a fact (for myself) that smoking DOES affect your performance. I know for a fact that I would not be able to smoke and keep up with my current workload. It's kind of one of those trade off things.

If you are going to sit in your dorm room all day and rip bong hits, then you are probably not going to get much out of your education other than the piece of paper. I guess what I'm trying to say is that weed doesn't hurt your education. Being a lazy fuck hurts your education. It's just there is definitely a bit of a correlation between how much you smoke and how lazy your are.

Everyone's different. I'm out of school and don't smoke anymore, and I find myself to be lazier than ever. Sometimes smoking is a good way of "rewarding" yourself and gives you the motivation you need to actually get shit done

I totally agree with this. However I would still say generally people who smoke a lot are lazier. I have no stats to back it up but that's just from my own observation.

I have a friend who is a teetotaller and he is super lazy and throws away chances to get A's to play videogames. I also have a couple of friends who smoke at least a few times a week and they are both graduating with honours. But overall, my friends who have bongs sitting on their coffee table are not as academically successful as my friends who don't or rarely smoke.

Yes, I am now going into my senior year at a university, Ive been smoking daily since 10-11th grade. But like you said now that im working and taking more tedious courses my smoking has naturally decreased.

But fwi to OP, tons of people like you said blaze and do school and work, ive taken acid over 50 times, smoked way too much ganj, and still people i work with dont believe me when i said that i smoke. Claim, i know a guy, 9th year of school, getting a neuro surgery degree or something along those lines that eats acid and mushrooms frequently and is one of the overall smartest guys i know

i am in college now and have a 3.85 GPA and i blaze down a lot. Just be smart go to class get all your work done and then reward yourself after you have everything done. You'll be surprised that it will motivate you to push through the last bit of hw or reading.
