i dnno you dont see rollerbladers using poles for balance and theyre way worse off then skiers are in that sense... you done see surfers with paddles, you dont see skateboarders with a pole.. why is skiing the only sport where you hold something in your hands?

cause you go faster than rollar blading in a forward motion, and our turns are different than any thing else in that the amount of forward motion and the turn radius, and poles are sick!

I use poles, a good pivot turn for a double drop needs poles, moguls are good for poles, and sometimes to push off a cliff or ledge or somethin, or to get more speed into a rail or somethin....poles are nessecary if your going to ski!

ive seen skiing without poles look shity, ive also seen skiing with poles look shity. I think once other people see how smooth you can make skiing look without poles it will catch on.

andy does raise a good point here. how can u grab to the best of ur ability when ur holding something already?? there is no real use for poles in the park, but elsewhere, you know, if u take the lift up the mountain poles are a crucial part of skiing.

i actually left my poles at the bottom of the lift on sat (dont ask). I ended out hiking the park with no poles. not having poles doesnt make much of a difference. its harder to get speed when there is no inrun. You also look shitty, everyone was giving me 'wtf mate' looks. Im sticking with poles, thanks.

why is liking eric pollard's style and liking poles hypocritical? Maybe we wouldnt like him without poles... For me Im just so used to poles it looks weird without them and I cant get past them, they complete the person and make him more wwhole.I think since tehre are two skis it just looks weird cause tht top looks too small compared to the bottom. With snowboarding its different cause the bottom is one thing is not as big and your arms are out more, they dont keep their arms in.

ok sorry andy, whats the relation between dissing poles and liking eric pollard? And I know he used to skiwithout poles(I think so anyways) but that doesn't mean he looked good doing it, but maybe thats not what you were getting at.
