Poles

So I was just scrolling through the thread "edits that make you want to ski" and I was watching Welcome to my Hood when I realized how ridiculous poles look. Does anyone else notice that?

wholy shit.
when you pay attention to them in edits for too long they start to make skiing look completely fucking gay.

i kinda see what you mean....but poles are just part of it. Unless someone has mad skills, it doesn't look so good without poles.

poles are like the condoms that you took from your dads wallet when you were a little kid, at first you really didnt know what to do with them or why you had to use them... but you wanted them. as you got older and older you started to want them/it less and less... they feel akward and sometimes out of place...

but when its all said and done at the end of the day... your happy to have them/it.

actually, i'm gonna have to agree with this thread. leave poles to racers and mogul skiers, park skiing looks so much better without poles. i mean, snowboarders can do without, why shouldn't we?

powder, however, is a whole different subject. you do need poles in powder.

i know what you mean, its like saying chicken to yourself a ton of times after a while it will sound so weird and dumb.

Hahahah I noticed the same thing from that edit.
You don't really notice unless you've seen a lot of snowboarding edits, but yeah poles are kindof silly looking

poles help out with balance and prevent your arms from going everywhere. unless your like good like lj of course.

Personally, poles look fine if they're short and grabs are being held/not penciled out and not flailing. If you watch any beginner's first 360, you'll notice the poles always look funny. This is usually because it's penciled out, regular legnth poles, and they don't quite know what to do with their hands yet. Pros on the other hand, have mastered their air sense, know what to do with their hands, and rock poles for 10 year olds.

they look fine in this cause they have steeze and aren't flailing around, sometimes they look dumb when newbs have them

not true watch a nimbus movie.
and who cares, it's personal preference. if you don't like how poles look, neat keep it to yourself, don't use them. and if it's really that big of deal, go snowboard. word. bitch.

Definitely agree with personal preferance. If you grew up shredding with poles, and you like them, why drop em? For me, coming from a snowboarding background, poles throw off my balance. Pow, park, moguls, almost everything can be done without poles.

i personally like the poles in this edit, and in skiing.
i feel too awk without them but i do feel more "skateboardy" in the park if you can imagine

a wise man once said, "skiing without poles is like getting a handjob from a dude. It feels good until you look down and realize you're gay."
