Poles vs no poles

haha this is only the 70000th thread about this. this was even a thread when i was a newb which was like 4 months ago. who cares really its about personal preferance. its like asking which ones better whole or skim milk?

REPOSTbut no poles gives you better form, an makes you think about you body position while skiinan no poles in the park

I dont use poles anymore... I use searchbars.

But on a serious note i rode my first whole season with out poles (last season) and i noticed poles help your style so much. They keep you more in control feeling and keep your arms from flairing around.

Ok, first of all, searchbar. Second of all, who cares? If you like the feel of skiing without poles cause its easier to grab or you think it looks cool, great. ski without poles. Nobody really cares, you will just get extra shit if you suck, but watever, do what you want. If you like using poles, then use poles. Niether is more "steezy." Skiing is all about having fun...if skiing without poles is fun for youi, ski without poles. If skiing with poles is more fun for you, ski without poles. And for God's sake, dont make the 400th thread about it.

In my personal opinion I found that after skiing a whole season without poles definatley made me think more about my arm positioning, and helped my steeze. But after a while I missed my poles, and when I started using them again I fell in love all over again with them. Skiing with no poles definatley improved my style, but skiing with poles definatley felt alot more right.

On a side note, last year a skier impaled his sack with a pole (this is at blue mountain Ontario).

But in the end it depends on preference and what stage of skiing your at :)

It's a lot of personal preference on whether you want poles or not. But for me I go either way. Most of the time i use poles because it helps me give a place for my arms, but every once and a while i drop them so i can work on my form and balance. I did find that skiing the powder with no poles can be very fun.

whatever you want. i use them sometimes and sometimes not. if you are going to use them make sure their nice and short... not too short though

i started skiing without poles a little while after this season started and it seemed a lot easier to do shit on rails cause i didn't have to keep track of where i was swingin em. it just kinda felt natural and i really helped my style but im gonna pick em up again and see how i do. but like everyone else has already said, whatever makes the rider happier

this. i didn't for almost two months it slowed down my progression like you wouldn't believe using poles for life

I like 2%

How 'bout you compromise and only use one pole and switch hands through out the day

This incredibly skier at my hill had to get 10 stitches on his sack cause he ripped it open when he landed on his pole.

Its all personal preference but in my opinion poles looks and feels wayyyyy better. When people don't have poles they tend to flail a lot and look really sketchy. But then again i have some friends that look better without poles. So i guess it depends on who it is.

pole definately look better and will help you with form, they also help keep your balance while spinning. if you dont beleive me try it. to ski without poles you have to have pretty good form. it just depends really what you like but poles will definatly help you develope your style.
