Poles that glow

I am currently working on poles that have leds built into the shaft. I've seen poles like this before and think it would be sick for night skiing. If I can successfully integrate the electronics into a pole wold this be something that you would buy

I would buy glowing poles. I don't want to ski around with lights on. My friend has some old Rossi skis from the late 90's and the bases on those babies actually glow. Even in the day they give off their own light and cast a spooky green shadow on the snow. I don't know how they did it or if that sort of thing is even still legal anymore but I am definitely a little jealous.

^ yea I agree I dont think I would buy but It wouldn't have to be lights it would just have to be glow in the dark paint

how about blacklight painted shafts and lil ultraviolet LEDs shining down from the grips?

If you make them bright enough I could see them catching on with the backcountry crowd for night skiing. Don't know if the cold temps will make battery life an issue or not. Also make sure the wire connections are strong since poles go through a lot of abuse.

Why not just buy a can of glow in the dark spray paint? Wouldn't be as bright, but it gives a similar effect.

I could see some people buying those poles (look at those light up snowboards) but I really see no need for them as the hill is already lit up and they wouldn't throw enough light to matter. If you plan on putting the lights on the outside think about putting a clear coat or protective layer over top of them, probably not needed, but worth a thought.

For the lights might I suggest a flat el wire, I think they just call it el tape, but google will turn up plenty of results. The problem with most though is that they will take 4 AAA batteries and they don't even last that long- especially in the cold but at least they would be flat to the pole/ minimal and provide a constant strip of light over an led strip.
