Poles or no Poles?

Hey NS,

I personally ski park without because the poles I bought are way too long for it, however doing all mountain i always ski with poles. Main reason I ski without in park is because I fell on my poles a few times and injured my ribs. What about you guys?

It depends on what I'm skiing that day, of it's mainly rails then I won't use them, but if it's anything else I normally will.

i usually use repoles but if you reuse the research the rebutton you should refind this exact rethread like million times

I use like 28cm childrens poles. They're long enough to help me push myself around but short enough to be out of the way. I love them, even though they're absolutely beat to shit

I lost my poles at the beginning of the season, started skiing park with out them and I feel like I can lock grabs much more consistently, and overall feel better with out them. I borrow rental poles on pow days though

Poles for serious riding, I dont mind no poles if Im just cruising around, but powder, moguls, fast riding ect deffinatly need poles. Its easy to loose style with no poles too, so its good to keep mixing it up.

I always ski with poles. I don't ski park and I ski almost entirely off-piste (except when the conditions suck). When I lived in Minnesota I sometimes skied without poles, and I didn't start using poles until 8 years after I started skiing. On groomers I'm indifferent as to whether or not I have poles, but off-piste they are very useful.

If you cannot control your arms while skiing park please do us all a favor and get poles. No one wants to see your funky interpretive dance movements when spinning out of rails.

And this is why I have poles, being 6'4 I look like a drunken octopus otherwise.

My balance on tricks in the air feels super off if I don't have poles, so most of the time I use them. But when it comes to rail days I can go either way and it doesn't really seem to make a difference.

I dont use them a lot when i am skiing jumps, only because i have taken some bad falls and broken ribs, and broke my nose, but on rails i usually do because it gives me better balance

For a while I used poles all the time, then I landed a bit off balance on a jump, I pole planted accidentally on the landing and hit myself in the face pretty hard.

I still use them sometimes but not all the time.

I don't really care but I think poles looks way way better no poles look sketchy and awkward in my opinion anyways. But really who cares if you don't wanna use poles don't screw the haters like me haha
