Poles lenght!

Hi guys,

may someone explain me why the poles are usually shorter than normal use? Is it just 'couse u don't actually need them so they r used for balancing??

Thanks for the advice

M.

yes kinda, you need to to push and balance, and i like em shorter so they don't get in the way

my poles are riduclously long. im like 6 ft and they like 50 or 52 or something like that. oh well, they are blue and have stickers on them, so theyre cool. and i dont like bending over to far when i use short poles...people get raped all the time that way...

Poles are th right size when you put it in your hand and when the pole is touching the ground, and i your are makes a 90 degree angle then they are perfect size.

I know that in traditional skiing that's the correct lenght, but i noticed that all the guys doing freestyle skiing usually have shorter poles, that's why i was asking.

Anyway thanks.

mine are above me waist......I need to cut em. either that or just use those for powder and get some Joysticks then cut those.

because I like poop.

mine used to be really long..but then i tried shorter, and they are nicer that way, just less intrusive. Now i have poles which reach up to my belly button. Why is it better? Probably because of the reduced swing weight and minimal obstructiveness while remaining functional.

using the 90 degree angle thing is the way your supposed to measure it. BUT, i find that they still feel to long, i like mine a little shorter, they become less clumsly, and when you actually need them (skiing steeps) they make you lean forward and flex alot more in your turns, which is good, cause usually people don;t flex enough when turn.

I find it helps MY skiing when skiing steep lines anyway, and you don;t look like an idiot in the park with huge poles.

Buy a set with your arm just a tad less then 90, and then just cut them down until it feels good when your skiing. it's not that hard to pop off the grip and cut'em down. all you need is a bucket of hot water.

i like my poles long cause you can push off better and get more power with them . you need this when you dont have enough speed for a rail or jump or something

"if all your friends jumped off a clif would you?" -my mom "i would if there was snow on it" -me
