Poles... how long?

I've got to buy some poles, i'm just going to get the cheapest shit or maybe just grab some from a local mountain, but how high should they go up on me when i'm standing? waist high? lower? belly button?

make that when you're not in ski boots, turn the pole upside down, grab just below the basket and touch the handle to the floor, your elbow should be at 90deg if its the right length, or so i heard.

freeskier told me that if the pole doesn't touch the ground when you're standing upright, you maximize your monkey

steeze.

When you assume, you make an ass out of u and me.(think about it)

'My knee hurts' (Jeff Merat after grinding a lunch table for an hour instead of sitting in the ski patrol shack for his torm mcl and acl which he got earlier that day.)

'I'm not asking for any help, just mabe for you to get off your ass.'(my dad)

i like shoulder high x-country style, when put together with my 143 skis, i am the epitamy of steeze

die.

First of all I like to say that I am imagining an Ewok with skiboards and long long poles. And secondly i would like to say that 100 degrees is way to shor unless you are a midget, er I mean Little Person. Do midgets ski?

im and anti-whore trend-whore pro-trend anti-prowhore

depends where your skiing. pow longer, park shorter. i never go to short. I use a pole in the park a tad bit shorter then when my elbow is bent at 90 degrees and im in bare feet. in the BC I use a pole that is cut when I am in my boots and my elbow is bent at 90 degrees. anything to long sucks and anything to short is gay. at least have em long enough that you can still plant your pole if you want to do a good turn. hey but also just go to your ski rental shop on the hill and rent poles. they never take down pass or cerdit numbers just give me like 4 bucks or swipe em from the holders, but then you gotta spray paint em.

sacrifice, to some its just a word, to others it is a code, what matters is the colony, he is willing to live for the colony, fight for the colony, die for the colony.

i go a little shorter than the arm 90 degree trick cause my hands are down by my shins when im in the park, but not to short so i can ski pow and all-mt.

Thats the way I live my life: I grip it and I rip it.

haha, hands up buddy .... RockyMountain is right tho. Longer in the pow cuz your poles sink. I like a short pole in the park, I'm 5'10 and i think i cut them down to 199 cm or something. You want it long enough so that when you're extending your lower body and changing your lead into a new turn (that's when you plant) you can touch snow with the flick of your wrist. Shorter poles are also good for people who ski in the back seat.

your poles are 199cm? wow.

i didn't come here with pants, and i'm not leaving with pants

Put it upside down, and hold it right underneath the basket. It should make a right angle.
