Poles: A Rule of Thumb

So I was talking to this rep and i wasn't sure how long my poles should be and i asked him like what length a newschoolers poles should be and he told me that for freestylers the rule of thumb with pole length is that if they are stacked up on top of each other tall ways then they shouldn't exceed your height. so, just if anyone was wondering how long their poles should be, stack them up and see if they are taller than you or shorter than you or whatever and then adjust them accordingly.

see, your rep must one of those old dudes that's confused about freeskiing. There some old dudes that tell me I should be on 160's if I want to be throwing tricks... fuck that I'm on 182s. Old dudes seem to think that for freeskiing you've got to make everything as short as it can go. I do the 90 angle thing, but I try to make it so that I'm at around 85... just a bit shorter, because I tend to hunch over a bit when I plant.

I already have skiers thumb bad in my right hand and it is only november, every year I get it from trying to catch myself (instinctively) with poles strapped in and it won't go away until july. Ususally I don't get it until late spring I am old

I am def taking an inch off my poles just as soon as I can get the grips off.

 
i ride short poles so do all of my freestyle friends. 110cm is my size and i'm 6'1' i know an EXTREMELY good mogul/pipe rider and he uses 100cm's and hes at least 6 foot soo all of you just need to ride your own lengths. its all personal preference biatch

 
your arms should be at 90 degrees when youre standing straight up

my poles are actually alot longer than they should be. they look and feel retarded. i hate them.

^ you can cut your poles really easy. or take em to a shop. they shouldn't charge more than 5 bucks to cut your poles

you can cut them yourself, just remove the grip and hacksaw it to the desired height
