i do it because its common sense. why not, besides the high risk of breaking your thumb severley.

Shes gonna make coats out of us!

id rather break my thumbs then drop a pole on the lift/ anywheres hiking to go get that shit is a bitch

rip_gravs

^^Don't know about that, but they are good on anything steep or in pow. I don't use em on the lift bc it is easier to hold em in one hand.

my brother used to make fun of me cause i couldnt get my straps on.. i cried

The only time I don't use them is when skiing in the BC. If you get in an avi you want those things as far away as possible. Just another thing to get tangled up in.

here's how it should be. the real deealll:

I NEVER used them, ever.

I got Goode poles and gloves, with the inter-loc system. it's the best thing EVER.

I actually use it ALL THE TIME, because it's more convenient TO use it then not to.

it'll keep your poles. it's SO good. i can't believe more people don't have it, honestly.

Brody

i wont drop out of high school for skiing, mom

NewSkool450 lol, i use them cuz it makes it easier when ur hands r too cold to feel nething, and cuz i dont like hiking.

dude hes asian, asians think about this fucked up shit

don't worry im not racist i have a colored tv

-aftermathdestroyer23

I use em because I don't like to hike for a pole that gets stuck and slips out my hand.

'It's the skills, not the bills.' Some random NS member who obviously has things much more figured out than most.

i use em...they will only break your thumbs if you wear them above your hand instead of under your palm.

to progress, rules must be broken.

i dont use them when i ski park, But on big line's hell yeah. Last time i used them in park i landed switch and my pole stuck in the snow and it mad me punch myelf in the fucking face.

..Seth Pistols rock my fuckin socks..

dude your thumbs get jacked when the grip acts as a fulcrum and spreads the thumb away from your hand. you can tear the ligament or stretch it, and my question is this:

do the poles do something different?

my version was the most common skiing injury in the 70's and eighties.

yea i dont use em cause ive broken my thumb before and then reinjured it using my pole straps. I'd rather hike for a dropped pole than have another broken thumb

screw

you

guys,

im

going

home...

well i got tired of the straps so what i did was brainstorm a little to figure a new way.

heres what i did.

i had a few pairs of gloves that were decent so i decided why not just super glue a pair of gloves to my poles? seems like a good idea huh. so i took an older pair and slipped them on. gripped my poles how i always do and let the glue dry. i then just slip my had out of the glove when i wanna drop my poles. and when else do you drop ur poles besides going inside or smoking a bowl? and if ur smokin you probably dont want ur gloves anyway so i figured this is the best way. worked for me last season time to bust it out again

they piss me off, I just cut them off or take them out, I don't think ever dropped a pole (other than a big crash where I lose skis and shit, but 98% of the time I'm still holdin my poles at the end of it. OR when you start skate skiing and you first dig your poles in real deep to push off and then they stick in and I have to walk back a couple steps and grab them, but that happens rarely and is always comical :P )

nice solution dloc.;) i use em, because it si snnoying dropping your ples. that does explain the fact that i always hurt my thumb when i fall on rails

i have been known to slide down mountains on occasion, like every saturday and sunday november through may

i dont use em in park, other than that i do. and andy, wearing your pole straps correctly, under your hand, does reduce your rick of breaking your thumb, but my brother and i both tore tendons in our thumbs due to the straps overextending the thumbs. its kinda a lose lose situation i guess, either be able to ditch the poles if you know your gonna bail and hike back up to get em, or use the straps but risk hurting your thumb. i'll take the hike.

i used mine a handfull of times last season. just don't drop them.

I broke my right thumb twice because of the fuckers, (but I think once its cause my hand slammed into my boot when I landed)

I had skier's thumb pretty much all last year. It's not that bad. It's worth wearing pole straps.

what about those polle handles that wrap around your hand? those oldschool things. does anybody still use those?

not just that but if you land a trick then have to hike up the mountain for your pole, that just sucks/

I was so poor growing up ... if I wasn't a boy ... I'd have had nothing to play with.

once i get my poles i rip off the pole straps... fuck, id rather loose my pole the break my thumb

We're all chasing the dream

It's all about pole straps

Signatures are so damn hot right now!

i use them but really loose so that if its just a small fall then there still there but if a real eat shit fall those things will slide right off and there is a lot of space in there for my thumb not to get broken, never been a problem for me

and more, much more than this, I did it my way

Theres sex and then theres the Seth Pistols

don't use them, don't drop my poles, don't need them

I dont know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.

i wear em, a few times last season when i tried goin 270 onto this really low box, i just forgot to hold on to them, and whipped em each in a different direction

11-01-04, the saddest day in skiing

the thumb injuries are from the pole. period. end of story. the straps do not add to the injury. the injury comes from the grip acting as a fulcrum against the ligament.
